Shaving And Haircuts Permitted This Friday, In Honor Of Shabbos

barberAlthough Shaving and Haircuts are prohibited until Lag Ba’omer, when Lag Ba’omer falls out on Sunday, shaving and haircuts are permitted on Friday in the honor of Shabbos, according to the ‘Rama’. However, according to some, it is Assur to shave or take a haircut on Motzei Shabbos.

It would also not be permitted to do so on Thursday evening, if one has time on Friday, according to the Mishnah Berura.

  2. Everyone. If you don’t know, ask your Rav. If you don’t have one then you have bigger problems than to shave or not on erev shabbos.

  3. if someone holds first half of sefira it is ASSUR to listen to music also motzi shabbos. That means no music with the bonfire!!

  4. This year Lag Ba’omer was pushed off to Monday, according to Rav Ovadiah Yosef Shlita. So this year one would not be allowed to shave on Sunday or Friday for that matter.

  6. There are many, including some prominant rabbinim in this community, who hold tha shaving on thursday night is permitted as well, so ask your local rabbi.

  7. While music is assur at night, it is muttar by the hadlakah for the “yom tov” (as opposed to putting on music for your own needs Lag Ba’Omer night – you’d have to wait until morning for that).

  8. many litvish rabbonim held that its mutar to shave on every erev shabbos during the sefira period. many also held that its ok to listen to recorded music during sefira as long as the words were shiros vesishbachos. so ask your own rav and dont pasken from the web. have a great shabbos and a clean shave
