  1. most of the suits you buy in jewish stores are coming from factories in China , including many of the expensive ones in (moderated), ( even though on the brand label it says made in Italy) . these factories do not even know what flax ( pishtan ) looks like , and are made specifically for the jewish market , so they are careful not to put in flax in. I AM NOT GOING TO PASKIN, you ask your rav ( if he knows) , but in my opinion there is really no reason to check such garments, i guess the shatnez labs want people thinking otherwise.

  2. right instead of spending $7 you should be over issurim. Good plan. And you are right the shatnez checkers should do it for you for free, to do you a chessed. Sarcasm intended

BTW I myself am not as careful as I should be. I do assume that if I buy something in frum store, unless otherwise noted, that the suit is safe. But maybe now I will change after seeing this posting

  3. Shatnez is being found in suits from China as linen is plentiful in China.. There is no Hashgacha on these suits. In addition, it is interesting that people would make an opinion on such a stringent issue and then follow it just like that. Right now, there is a recall on children sweaters that were found shatnez which were sold at the local frum stores.
People have to realize that the achrayus to check is on the consumer; the stores do not take responsibility for this issue.
Also to note the labs charge $7 or less for a suit not for just a pair of pants.
