Shapiro’s Bakery Wholesalers reminds residents: No need to take 6 loaves of bread to freeze 5 during post-Pesach rush

Shoppers today were seen taking as many as 10 loaves of bread. Shapiro’s Bakery Wholesalers is reminding Lakewood residents that bakeries have a challenge keeping up with the demand immediately after Pesach.

“Consumers need to know that Baruch Hashem we are not in a time of war or famine,” says R’ Yisroel Meir Shapiro of Shapiro’s Bakery Wholesalers, the suppliers of the Korn’s and Stern’s brand line. “People need to know that IY’H there will be plenty more bread on Monday, Tuesday and every weekday after that until next Pesach הבא עלינו לטובה.”

So instead of grabbing six or more loaves and putting them in the freezer, take ONE loaf, and maybe two if you have a large family, and feel free to come back the next day for more. “You will be really helping the situation,” says Reb Yisroel Meir.

Shapiro says that despite literally working around the clock, it takes about two weeks to get back to normal and accommodate the market after Pesach.

  1. Just FYI, please do be dan ppl lechaf zchus. Why call it “grabbing”? I do always order a good 8 loaves because one or two don’t last long for a family; and many busy mothers can’t run to the store for bread every day or even every other day.

  2. The reason people buy more bread is because the bread after pesach is made with flour that was by a GOY over pesach but since nobody knows how long that lasts they stock up..if Shapiros would let us know that information we would be more educated in our buying

  3. Some people are missing the point. Regardless how many esrogim you buy or if you usually buy 6 loaves of bread at a time… Right now there is not enough supply for the Lakewood community.

R’ Shapiro’s point was that every extra loaf of bread you take, is one that someone else can’t get.

I’m sure shelves keep restocking, but my wife went to five stores today and was only able to come back with 2 baguettes and some pitas.

  4. I went to a local supermarket this morning to buy one loaf of fresh bread. Once home we realized that the store had frozen it before Pesach, selling frozen fresh bread as fresh bread. The dates had been removed. They lost us as customers!

  5. I would assume that any bakery that gets new flour from a guy, after Pesach ,does not switch back to sold flour . Please correct me if I am wrong but it would not really make sense to do that .

  6. I would not over analyze this request. It’s not rocket science. One can bake only so much bread so fast, so to help ensure they don’t run out for other families, kindly trust that if you take less, but make more trips for a week or two, other families will have bread. Otherwise, they may not. It’s a simple and sensible and thoughtful request.

  7. @ ben vera, I’m ‘klering’ that those who are machmir & makpit for Tanir Rishon for their Matzah, should have kedimah on getting how many loaves of bread that they want from Tanir Rishon until Rosh Chodesh!

  8. Shopper, you have no idea the importance of supporting a yid is. Even if he made a mistake that’s a reason to dump?? I sense your arrogance big time. You gotta be loaded with ahavas yisroel.
