Severe Damage Shuts Lakewood’s Lake Carasaljo Boating Activities for 2023 Season

The boating at Lake Carasaljo in Lakewood will not be opening this season, TLS has learned.

Yonoson Ely, the operator of the activities at the lake, tells TLS it cannot reopen due to severe damage done to the docks and equipment.

Most of the damage is weather-related, though some damage is reportedly from vandalism.

Ely says he is hoping the hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage can be repaired in time for the 2024 summer season.

  1. Cmon! sounds fishy!! get some local carpenters and im sure they can get the repairs done asap!! many capable builders in Lakewood that have the means to get it fixed by Pesach this year!! why do the outings for kids and summer camps have to be neglected? You seriously need 12 months to repair? unless there are permits and township regulations and inspectors and more red tape then can be imagined-then i can understand the delay!!

  2. Its a shame. That equipment was always left out all winter. If they would have taken it out for the winter it would have not gotten damaged. The lake would also look much nicer during the winter.

  3. Weather-related “SEVERE” damage? During one of the mildest, storm-free winters in memory? I agree with Dave…it doesn’t add up. Oh well.
