Several Lakewood Sidewalk Projects Completed this Summer Season

Several sidewalk projects around Lakewood have been completed this summer.

Stretches along Cedar Bridge Avenue, between Flannery and Oberlin Avenues; Locust Street, between the Lafayette Green and Briarwood West developments; and County Line Road East, between Merlin Drive and Ridge Avenue; now have freshly-paved pedestrian sidewalks.

Lakewood’s Mayor, Township Committee members, along with County officials, collaborated on the projects.

The Locust Street sidewalk comes on the heels of added turning lanes on the road.

“As Lakewood’s neighborhoods grow and change, it is crucial that government is cognizant of residents’ evolving needs,” says Lakewood Township Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein. “I’d like to thank our dedicated Mayor, Township Committee, Township employees, and County officials, for working together to constantly update and improve our Town’s infrastructure on behalf of our residents.”

  1. N. Lake Dr. from Case Rd. Till Oak Knoll Rd. Desperately needs a decent sidewalk.
As hundreds of pedestrian walkers and joggers pass there 365 days a year, and the current gravel path is insufficient as it can be very slippery when it’s wet. When it’s wet pedestrians walk on the actual road which is very dangerous as some vehicles fly by at crazy speeds; if possible to make sidewalks on both the residential & the Lake sides as N. Lake Dr. is narrow in that portion and it constantly has a great amount of pedestrian traffic as well as vehicle traffic.

    • South Lake Dr also desperately needs a sidewalk from Hope Chapel to Lake Park Blvd so that the residents of
A Country Place can safely cross at the Hope Chapel traffic light.
