  1. What was the real reason for not moving the election to Nov? Were they afraid more people might vote in the regular election and they get ousted. Could have saved a lot of money by moving,Again Lakewood the laughing stock the only district not doing something that makes sense.

  2. #1 you are right ,but does this surprise you that here in Lakewood something that really makes sense would be done and besides the only way the public schools would see a change is iif the State steps in to turn things arround. How can any of the existing members be proud to be part of a 37 % graduation rate ??

  3. Knowing Joel (Yoeli) Schwartz, i can say that he will bring responsible spending to our town. We need more guys like him to run. Good luck Joel and keep strong.

  4. I know that money is on everyone’s mind, but running for the BOE should be about more than just fiscal responsibility and transparency. The focus should be on how to educate all the children of Lakewood and how to improve the failing schools. Once that is planned, the next step should be how to budget it responsibly. If you can pinpoint some waste, cut it out, and yes, pick through the budget, but don’t get so cought up that you forget the children.

  5. Makes no difference who you vote in- its all controlled by the boe attorney. Keep dreaming folks! Vote for a new attorney and then we have hope.

  6. It’s funny how everybody blames the boe attorney, he just gives recommendations, the board votes, not the attorney!!!! Stop blaming the problems on him and vote in a board that knows what there doing, not people who say the just want to cut taxes!!!

  7. What qualifications do these candidates have, if any? High school diploma, bachelor degree? If there will be making the decisions in this town then I expect them to have some kind of education….

  8. to # 22 . I really hope your kidding. Maybe you have been out of town for the last twenty years or so. The only thing the person has done you mentioned along with the current president of the board was to initiate increases to the school budget leading to higher taxes. The proof is in the pudding.
Please make truthful statements or go back to sleep

  9. Amazing how people know who they are voting for, without looking at other candidates. Typical Lakewood!
The first and biggest hurdle to bettering the BOE is getting rid of (moderated)!

  10. who is moderated, does he/she have a name.
The biggest hurdle for Lakewood is to strenghten the public schools graduation rate.
This isn’t about politics anymore, this is about what’s right and wrong. The reason why the gangs are growing by leaps and bounds is because of the lakewood insiders who make sure the wrong people are on the BOE for there own personal interest.
All the children both private and public should have the the right to the best education available.
Board members who have been on for more then two terms wasted so much tax dollars by doing nothing for our public school’s this is the main reason why the schools are in such poor shape today. Also, all they did was to appease the unions and give them raises contract after contract. The only member of the board who really has a clue is Mr. Silver, the other two need to go BYE BYE.

  11. If 15% of registered voters sign a petition, the question of moving the election to November will be put on the ballot. Whether or not the voters will agree is another issue.

  12. to
Quote ” Which candidates are from the LAC? I only vote with the LAC. Does anyone know which one of these guys are from them?”
can you not think for yourself ,you need to be told who to vote for?

  13. to #22- Irene Miccio voted against moving the elections to November. This is on the record. How can you say she is for the publci schools. You are kidding me, right.
Also, it appears Irene was told not to vote for the move. Is this a person we want on the school board. PLEASE

  14. come on mrs miccio….it’s time to throw the towel in. you must have had it all these years. give yourself a break and enjoy life. you did your share now it is time to sit back and enjoy. you deserve it. you were very dedicated in what you did. you need a break

  15. If you want Mrs. Miccio to retire your asking the wrong person. You will need to ask the person she worked for. Mrs. Miccio is a great person who is just misguided.

  16. Can someone please send a message to the LAC (I don’t know who they are, but maybe someone else does):
If you do endorse a candidate, or group of candidates, please keep all your information and ads focused on the issues involved and the candidates’ platform regarding those issues. Please do not make this a mud-slinging campaign like you did to the fire elections. There is no “us against them”. We all live here and as grown-ups, hopefully, we can all work together to resolve the issues that effect the whole town.
As a frum person living in this diverse town, I and many others, were terribly offended by the tone of the campaign you waged to get your candidate elected. Please do not make that mistake again. Thank you.

  17. With the results of the Lakewood School system in test results, graduation rates, etc, all incumbent members of the BOE should resign immediately. They have failed miserably in educating our children. How can they pat each other on the back for a job well done, when we are the laughing stock of Ocean County. Our property values are down due to our school system and other negative factors in Lakewood. The only way to help our children is for the State to take over and run the system properly.

  18. Their record of unbridled “tax and spend” speaks for itself. Silver, Fink and Seitler put a stop to that bonanza. But they are unable to finish the job so long as they are in the minority. Elect Silver, Mund and Schwartz to restore sanity, prudence, and effective education to our District. Let’s finish the job once and for all. Every vote counts.

  19. How about cutting back on courtesy bussing , and putting more into education? What candidates are for that? There was a time when you were proud to be a graduate of Lakewood High School!! It would be great if that could happen again!
