A serial burglar was nabbed in Lakewood moments after breaking into a home he burglarized days earlier, police told TLS.

Just after 8:00 am this morning, Officers were sent to an Ocean Avenue home after the resident reported that her home was just burglarized.

While in-route to her home, Officers noticed a suspicious male who was walking in the area but away from the home.

“Upon arrival, Officers John Novak and Matthew McKee determined that the suspect had made entry by pushing a window unit air conditioner through the window,” Liutenant Greg Staffordsmith said. “In addition, they observed noticeable shoe prints left behind. It was determined that the suspect was scared off by the resident after realizing someone was still home.”

The Officers relayed the information obtained at the scene to other responding officers. Officers Patrick Carney and Michael Ruiz located the same male – that was noted during the initial response – still on Ocean Avenue, near Ocean County Park.

“While speaking with the male, identified as 21-year-old Abraham Rodriguez-Rojas of Lakewood, Officers were able to observe the bottom of his shoes. It was an apparent match,” Staffordsmith said.

Mr. Rodriguez-Rojas was subsequently arrested and transported to headquarters for additional questioning.

Further investigation by Det. Peter Aakjer revealed that Rodriguez-Rojas had in fact burglarized the same Ocean Avenue home only several days ago in addition to this morning. Additionally, he was found to be responsible for an August 13th burglary to a Birch Street home. He again, pushed in a window air conditioning unit to make entry. Once inside, he took over $400 in cash.
