Sen. Booker slams Trump on appointment of Steve Bannon to Key White House Post

bookerU.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement today on Trump’s appointment of Steve Bannon.

“Over the course of his campaign, Donald Trump degraded and demeaned Americans, threatened our rights, and attacked the privileges of citizenship. He will have a disastrous presidency if he governs that way, and he must show the American people with words and action how he will change direction. Many have offered to give him a chance to do so, despite his divisive campaigning, and he should not squander that opportunity to unite our nation.

“Elevating Steve Bannon– a man who leads a website that promotes truly radical views about race and religion, whose appointment was celebrated by neo-Nazis and denounced by the Anti-Defamation League, and who has been condemned by Republicans and Democrats alike — to one of the highest positions in the White House installs a man with fringe and dangerous ideologies just steps from the Oval Office.

“Bannon won’t build bridges, he will burn them. He is unfit to advise America’s commander-in-chief. Donald Trump should reverse the decision to hire him and chart a different course for the good of the American people.”

  1. @ the doctor
Take the truth from who ever utters it.

While I too was upset at Senator Booker with regard to the Iran deal; in this instance, IMHO, Senator Bookers statements are 100% correct.

Senator Booker is not a shill. His statement is right in target.

Without resorting to ad hominem attacks, please debate the issue respectfully.

No matter who you, or I voted for,
Look at the Senator Bookers statement, ask yourself, is he correct or not.

    Be honest.

  2. as someone who worked with Bannon personally, I can tell you that this is all media hype!
Steve has his head on straight, he respects jews, he is brilliant.
btw he may be the sole reason why Trump won the election!!

  3. Relax everyone. This is just a politician who is making a statement with the hopes of becoming a potential candidate for the presidency in the future.

  4. Bannon and Breitbart are currently the largest pro-Israel and pro-Jewish website online. They have been the most outspoken critics of the BDS (Boycott) Israel movement, they have been at the forefront of exposing the media and U.N. Bias against Israel, they have exposed the virulent antisemitism on college campuses.

They also only have 2 foreign bureaus, with one of them being in Israel. Andrew Breitbart was Jewish, the current CEO of Breitbart is Jewish, One of the editors and general counsel is an Orthodox Jew, and have a number (proportionately high) of Jewish employees. Steve Bannon, when he was running Breitbart, always allowed his employees to take off on Jewish Holidays and Shabbos.

The articles most people site in their claim that Breitbart is antisemitic, was titled “The Renegade Jew” . It was written by a prominent Jewish, politically conservative writer. The article was criticizing another prominent Jewish writer claiming that his opposition to Trump was a danger to Israel and the Jewish People.

It is ironic that the media can convince people that an article written in defense of Israel is antisemitic. It is scary that people can be so controlled by propaganda to believe that the most pro-Israel news website, is antisemitic.

The fact is that these attacks on Bannon and Breitbart are calculated. Breitbart is the fastest growing online news website. In some areas it ranks higher then the NY Times and CNN. In some areas, it ranked the highest in the world for political news. It is also rumored that they plan on expanding beyond the web.

These attacks by their competitors, ones who are losing ground, are an attempt to kneecap the competition. It is amazing how many people are falling for it.

  5. Remember it was the Democratic Party who nominated a Vice President who boycotted an address to a joint session of congress by the PM of the only Jewish state
They’re now going to put in as DNC chief an anti Israel Louis Farrakhan disciple

  6. Fact, Steve Bannon ran one of the most pro Israel news websites out there. He is aginst the Iran deal. Booker’s statement is devoid of any quotes to backup his claim. I guess you can’t confuse a liberal with the facts. Let’s not forget Booker’s vote for the Iran deal. Shameless!

  7. @Just Wondering
Lets keep things straight. Breitbart is infamous for its history of fake news and doctored scoops. It is also well know for its commentators. On any given day you’ll see a cesspool of white nationalism and anti semitism throughout the comment section.
They are proud of being the news site of the alt-right, a “group” who are knows for their White nationalism which is chock full of Neo-Nazis.

  8. Truth seeker
There a regular biased news outlet that happens to be right wing, like all news outlets they twist stories are they worst than cnn or nbc etc? What about thoe communist ideology that the liberal sites have in their comments is that a problem? Or because it’s not your view it’s wrong and dangerous?

  9. Truth Seeker, do you care to back up any of your accusations with facts?

There are some antisemetic comments on Breitbart, because they don’t edit the comment section, however, generally when someone makes antisemetic comments, they are far outnumbered by comments denouncing them.

There is no defined group as the alt-right. Prior to hillary Clinton, the Alt-right just meant what it means, alternative to the establishment Republicans. It typically meant people who disagreed with certain conservative views (such as hawkish interventionist policies, economic globalism, and certain social issues.

The Leftist media, starting with Hillary Clinton, decided to hijack the term and use it to defame Breitbart as a racist site. They were trying to silence the opposition, which is their standard operating procedure, calling all opposition racist and antisemetic..

  10. When Correy Booker supported the iran deal here is an example of what Breitbart reported:

Stephen Bannon joined ZOA in fighting the anti-Semitic rallies at CUNY by requiring his Breitbart reporters to call CUNY officials and Gov. Cuomo aides urging them to do something about it.

Breitbart courageously publishes articles reporting that the Palestinian Authority defames Israel with blatant falsehoods. On November 13, 2016, Breitbart reported that:
“The Palestinian Authority’s official TV network has been airing a video several times a day baselessly accusing Israel of poisoning former PA President Yasser Arafat and further claiming that Israel is targeting current President Mahmoud Abbas next. Arafat died at the age of 75 on November 11, 2004, just outside of Paris. A French forensic team examined his remains and concluded that there were no traces of poison in his body. Nevertheless, every year around the anniversary of his death, the PA disseminates the libel that Israel murdered him.” (Emphasis in original.)
On November 14, 2016 Breitbart reported the human cost and pain to a Jewish student at the New School of finding a swastika scrawled on her dorm room door.
Breitbart bravely publicizes Iran’s violations of the Iran deal – which pose an existential threat to Israel. On November 13, 2016, Breitbart reported that “Despite a finding published by the UN’s atomic energy agency this week that Iran has — for the second time — stockpiled more heavy water than permitted under the terms of the nuclear agreement it reached with six world powers last year, the US State Department is declining to acknowledge this as a violation of the deal.”
Breitbart also sympathetically reports on the scourge of anti-Semitic anti-Israel boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS). On November 2, 2016, Breitbart reported that: “Reports of anti-Semitic incidents on US college campuses have increased, much of it attributed to the rise of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, a new report has found.”

So if you ask me who I would rather have Booker or Bannon I would pick Bannon. And let’s not forget that Tim Caine was 1 of 8 out of 100 senators that boycotted Netanyahu speech in the white house.
