Tomorrow, several men and women of the Lakewood Police Department, as well as heroic citizens will be honored by the Township for their outstanding performance and service to the department, and to the community.

The select officers to be honored, are being recognized for going above and beyond their call of duty as an officer, sometimes putting their own lives at risk, in order to save the lives of another citizen.

In addition to the officers honored, at least one citizen will be honored for his heroic act of apprehending two burglars in middle of the night. The award comes in response to the article reported on TLS at the time.

In 2010, Hatzolah member Sam Stein and EMS Member Dave Rice were given an award for assisting police officers tackle a suspect after a fight broke out at the scene of an accident. That award was in response to a TLS Video capturing the incident.
