As earlier reported, Hatzolah of Central Jersey’s new garage on the south side of Lakewood is nearing completion and is expected to become fully operational in early 2025.
Located at Route 9 and Halsey Street, the garage will serve as a vital resource for the growing kehillos on the south side of Lakewood and Toms River, enhancing Hatzolah’s emergency response capabilities in the area.
The state-of-the-art facility will house both an ambulance bay and a paramedic vehicle bay, along with several critical amenities, including a fully equipped dispatch center, a night watch room, a training room, and a supply room.
“The new garage will allow us to respond to emergencies even faster,” said Avrumi Werner, a 12-year Hatzolah veteran. “With this addition, we will be able to serve the south side of Lakewood with greater efficiency and preparedness.”
One of the standout features of the garage is the night watch room—a comfortable lounge where Hatzolah members stay on rotating shifts every night, ensuring that an immediate response is available at any hour.
“Hatzolah EMTs and paramedics are on call 24/7,” explained veteran Hatzolah paramedic Shuie Schmuckler. “Having a dedicated space where members can relax while remaining awake and ready to respond in the middle of the night is crucial to maintaining the level of service expected of Hatzolah.”
Hatzolah expresses its gratitude to all those involved in bringing this important project to fruition, from the generous donors to the contractors and municipal officials who worked tirelessly to make this a reality.
