A major search is underway for a bochur who has gone missing in Vermont. Shmuel ben Chasha, a 15-year old Montreal boy who is attending the summer camp of a Lubavitcher yeshiva, Mesivta Keren Menachem of Montreal, went missing from his group when they were hiking trails in the area of Killington, a popular resort area located in central Vermont. Shmuel was last seen at around 9 PM on Wednesday night.
A group of several Lakewood Chaveirim members are currently headed to the search area with specialized equipment, including ATV’s and communication equipment to assist in the search for the boy. Bikur Cholim of Lakewood is also sending a group of 20 volunteers and equipment to help in the search.
Chaveirim of Rockland has also joined the search, sending a group of 20 volunteers to help Vermont authorities. Chaveirim of Montreal are also responding, providing volunteers to join the search and bringing the boy’s family members to the search area.
The boy’s mother has thanked everyone for their tefillos and efforts in locating her son and requested for people to take upon themselves a small kabbalah in merit of Shmuel.

Responsible Parents:
Get your son a flipphone! if he had had a phone this story wouldn’t have happened as the bochur would have been able to make the call right away.
If bochrim would have phones all these kind of stories would never happen.
This is a wilderness survival camp. Great experience for the right type of boys who need or can gain from these experiences. Cell phones just wont work in this type of environment.
It’s very telling when city-living people with limited experiences try applying their own limited views to totally different situations.
Maybe he did have a cell phone on him? Generally on hiking paths and places where people don’t live year round the service is very bad and many times there is no service/reception.
