With Yom Tov season upon us, the search for sukkahs is in full swing, and the list of families in need is long. Building a sukkah is a significant investment of money, time, and energy, and for some families, fulfillment of this mitzvah is challenging. These families, unsure how they can obtain a sukkah, have contacted Chesed of Lakewood for assistance.
The ‘Sukkah Exchange,’ a project of Chesed of Lakewood, maximizes the use of an unused sukkah by donating it to a grateful family who will use it, happily, for many years. Please note, this project has been exchanging Sukkahs in the entire tri state area and beyond — it is not limited to the Lakewood area.
Last year’s response to the Sukkah Exchange was overwhelming, a tribute to the tremendous spirit of chesed prevalent within the frum community. Donors were grateful to know that their sukkah would be used on Yom Tov, filled with simchah and kedushah by beautiful yiddishe families. Chesed of Lakewood is proud to say that every single sukkah donated in previous years was put to us!
Now, in full Yom Tov swing, Chesed of Lakewood has been inundated with requests from families-in-need, and, in order to assist them as promptly as possible, alleviating unnecessary heartache, they need your immediate assistance. If you have an unused sukkah, simply contact them as soon as possible for an easy pick-up and tremendous mitzvah!
To be a partner with this incredible mitzvah by donating a sukkah, please contact the Chesed of Lakewood office at 732.901.0482 (ext. 4 for the ‘Sukkah Exchange’), visit their website at www.sukkahexchange.org, or email them at [email protected].
Donations are tax deductible and can be mailed to their office at 60 Park Avenue South, Lakewood NJ 08701 or via their website at www.chesedoflakewood.org.

However Chesed of Lakewood generally will not pick it up. The recipients [and givers] have to work that out.
