Search Teams By Land And Air Now In Their Third Day For Missing Man

Search_riverhead_pic3[PHOTO] A Lakewood Chaveirim member very involved with the massive search in Long Island tells TLS that officials and volunteers are now winding down the physical search, concentrating mostly on one area and relying on the media and handout photos and flyers to try and locate 65 year old Steven Mayer, missing since Monday morning.

missing steven mayer[Photo of Steven Mayer] The one main area of concentration at this time, is a rural area in Riverhead, where the last signals of his cell phone were traced to.

As we publish this article, a Lakewood Chaveirim member and dispatcher, sent us the following in an email: “I’m here in LI, the actual search is being put on hold for now due to no leads. They are working on leads with his phone records”.

He also asked that we publish, that those who wish to assist should call the hotline number and not head out to the search area.

The hotline number is 347-927-7701.

Another official tells TLS, “A big thank you should be given to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel, who has graciously allowed officials to use their computer and conference room”.

The Hotel is being used as the central command center.

Note:If possible, please take a moment to say a Kapittel of Tehillim for Shlomo Ben Kayla. All who would like to participate in completing the entire Tehillim in his Z’chus, should please post their desired portion of Tehillim in the comments section.

  1. #1 The family has requested help, wouldn’t it be our duty to atleast offer some help? If you we’re missing a loved one, Im sure you would turn over heaven and earth to find them.

Also, if you’ve been following this story, you would also now he was suffering from Amnesia, and perhaps he can’t find his way home (something no one should go thru!)

I happen to know the family personally, and they are fine people.

    Let not make irrational judgments!

  2. It would be very helpful if the search committee and/or family would offer a substantial reward for finding Mr. Mayer. This could be widely publicized and motivate people to help find him.

  3. anybody know if they are still looking for volunteers to go help out there?

Will they be searching through the night?

somebody has got to update and coordinate online if they want to be succesful getting volunteers. the hotline is very unclear and rarely uodated.

    Please infor !!
