School officials face a New Jersey-mandated deadline of Oct. 15 which requires all school districts to post their teacher evaluation criteria on their websites, and provide the numbers of teachers who did not meet those performance standards. The requirement is part of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund Program which, in concert with the Race to the Top federal program, is forcing districts to make the evaluation process more transparent whether or not the school receives any funding. However there is no standard for teacher evaluations across the state so districts are left with trying to fit its data into the program’s guidelines.
The requirements include posting the district’s evaluation process and criteria and a listing of number of teachers who made the criteria and those who did not. Only the number of teachers at each school in the district will be posted and not the teachers’ names or status of their evaluation. Read more in Star Ledger.
