Bus transportation has been cancelled today for all of the Lakewood District, Board of Education officials tell TLS. There will be no busing for public as well as for non-public schools, officials say.
As of last night, busing was to run on a 90 minute delay, but that changed this morning after a conversation between school officials and the Lakewood Police Department.
Check your school’s hotline number if your child has school today.
This makes sense. Children deed to remain safely at home while streets are being cleared.
The snow needs to be cleared from the side roads. lakewood needs more BIG plow trucks with the Plow lowered.
The main reason for today’s cancellation is the downed wires all over lakewood streets due to the heavy wet snow.
some how there are buses running they were picking up at 10 am on cedar row, we can not have our little children in danger, these are the real private buses that are operated by the school.
Glad to hear school was cancelled for the safety of the children and staff. This also keeps the roads clear for cleanup and repair crews!
Sorry to see so many people driving around, especially with children in the car.
downed wires are a real danger. Before school is closed for snow reasons, they should ask how people in Chicago manage with much more snow than we get.
