Although a bill allowing advertising on school buses awaits the Governor’s signature, BOE member Chesky Seitler tells TLS this will not affect buses in Lakewood. The reason being says Seitler, is that the buses are contracted out to private companies – and transportation isn’t done by the Lakewood School District. The bill (A-1637) would allow school districts to sell advertising space on the exterior sides of school buses owned or leased by the school district.
For buses owned by the district, the bill would require 50 percent of any revenue generated by the advertising to be used by the board to offset the fuel costs of providing transportation services and the remaining 50 percent of the revenue would be used to support programs and services the board deems appropriate.
Currently, advertising on school buses is prohibited under state law.
what kind of minimum standards will they be setting for these advertisements??
they should be more concerned with the safety of the students they transport. As stated here this would not apply here in Lakewood where outside companies provide contracted service for school transportation.
lets start doing it here and let the money go to the schools that the busses are working for to help with the budget
maybe te district can lease the space on the buss wehre the adds will go… lol
