TODAY: Beginning today, September 30th, Ocean County and Walter R. Earle will begin the final phase of road reconstruction of Sunset Road. September 30th, October 1st, and October 2nd are reserved for curb and sidewalk restoration. The week of October 5th is reserved for the complete removal and replacement of the road surface of Sunset Road from James Street to Central Avenue (Rt. 528). Beginning October 5th and continuing through October 6th and 7th, Sunset Road will be closed to all but local traffic only. Local traffic only refers to those persons who live on Sunset Road. Motorists who travel Sunset Road as transient will find a posted detour using Central Avenue (Rt. 528), Cross Street and James Street. Also available will be James Street and Route 9 as a bypass around the construction.
During the road closure a significant portion of the road surface and roadbed will be removed in order to make way for the new road surface. For this reason Sunset Road will be closed continuously (24 hours) beginning Monday October 5th at 8:00 AM through Wednesday October 7th, approximately 4:00 PM.
This is a significant road surface reconstruction project. Delays should be expected and motorists are urged to stay away from the construction zone.
Every effort will be made to reduce any inconvenience this project may have. However, motorists and residents must allow the contractor access to this area in order to complete the work.
Uniformed police officers will be posted to the work zone to assist motorists and maintain security of the work zone.
Wow. If I understand this correctly, there will be no access to R’ Gissinger’s shul for the first three days of Chol Hamoed. That will be a major problem as there are multiple minyan held there daily. There is also a large learning program every morning of chol hamoed.
not a ‘major problem’ lkwdguy, on the corner of powderhorn & flintlock is a shul -zichron pinchos (rav Zuckerman shlita) with a nice Yeshivish minyan as well as a chol hamoed learning program.
geshlogteh kaporos
I am very familiar with R’ Zuckerman’s shul, however I doubt it can accomodate another 250 mispallalim (a low estimate of the number of mispalalim that will daven at the 3 shachris minyanim at zichron yaakov) for chol hamoed shachris.
Please ask the County and our local Askonim if local access includes being able to access a local house of worship on the block .
You should be able to walk there, just not drive in the construction zone.
I realize you canm walk there ,but ithout parking ,it is impossible unless you live within walking distance .
Define “walking distance.” There are several blocks surrounding the shul’s area. (Also, sometimes when they are having construction, they close up for the night and take away the barriers)
