Rich Roberts will be sponsoring a trip to Israel for U.S. Senator Rand Paul, along with one hundred Evangelical leaders, and with Rabbi Nate Segal, Director of Community Development for Torah Umesorah, TLS has learned.
The trip, planned for January, will be the first time the Senator visits Israel.
Paul’s office has reportedly requested to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Jordan’s King Abdullah, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
Paul, son of Republican Ron Paul, is also expected to tour some historical sites throughout the region.
The trip adds to speculation that the U.S. Senator for Kentucky plans on making a 2016 bid for the White House. TLS.
Can I come too?
I’m in. Where do I sign up?
Maybe he can sponsor a few people for the Lakewood Yarchei Kallah too? Can someone suggest it? Maybe like Maaser. Send 100 Evangelicals for polotics and 10 Baalei Batim to learn Torah. We can do a scholarship….
does Rand Paul need roberts to sponsor him??? Is he that poor that he cant afford it?
If he sponsors the Yarchei kallah i want him to be one of the speakers!
Agreed! R a b b i R i c h i e……….
§541 of the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007 allows the trip as long as the Senator is not “knowingly accepting gifts from lobbyists, agents of a foreign principal, or private entities that retain or employ such individuals.”
Why does he not pay for it himself? Taxes.
I would not think that serving in Congress is not in conduct of a trade or business so he would not be able to deduct his expense to lower his adjusted gross income under §162(a)of the Internal Revenue Code. It would be a below-the-line itemized deduction (almost useless for higher incomes) for “unreimbursed employee expense such as expenses for transportation, travel fares and lodging while away from home” under §67 of the IRC.
He should PAUL alles git.
