Assemblymen Dave Rible and Sean Kean [R-30] recently introduced legislation that would help to promote the state’s tourism industry.
“It is important that we have all the necessary tools in place to make sure that we are effectively promoting one of the state’s biggest industries,” Assemblyman Rible said. “If we can generate a greater interest among the public to come and see what our state has to offer, we can enhance the local business climate and, in return, create more jobs.”
The legislation, A-4474, would establish the Office of Tourism Research in the Division of Travel and Tourism in the Department of State and would require the office and division to take specific measures concerning tourism advertising, marketing, research and training for tourism-related businesses. Senator Robert Singer recently introduced the Senate version of this bill, S-2759.
Assemblyman Kean said establishing an Office of Tourism Research would allow one of the state’s biggest industries to grow.
“The Office of Tourism Research would bolster New Jersey’s popularity as an iconic travel destination, already demonstrated by the state’s $40 billion tourism market,” Assemblyman Kean said. “By customizing marketing strategies and developing mobile services, the Office of Tourism Research would grow one of New Jersey’s most successful industries and provide travelers with an efficient way to enjoy their visit to the Garden State.”
