The new DPW Director, Al Burdge, tells TLS that residents have begun ordering a second yellow recycle bin, as they fill up their first bin with cardboard, cans and other material. “The program is working great, and we were able to drop two trucks already”, Burdge says, being that the yellow bins are a single stream recycle bin, allowing less trucks to perform more efficiently.
The cost of leasing a yellow bin is $42 dollars, which can be leased by calling the Department of Public Works at 732-905-3405.
The cost to replace a broken or lost can, is $55 dollars.
I don’t even fill up one bin every week!
I’ll take another one too I think for my coins mine is full -then when this one is full I’ll wheel it to TD’s free coin counter or maybe I’ll wait till erev pessach and attach it to my car will see then vi men halt
I usually fill one up – I would love a second one, but at $42?!?!?! – the blue bins were free – I had 3 – I wish they would have let me keep them!!!
Oh great. Now my sloppy neighbor will leave TWO eyesores on the front lawn Monday to Monday.
one week I didn’t have much recycling so I only put out the green can a few days later I got a warning for a recycling violation I’m assuming because I didn’t have the yellow can out some inspector poked his nose in my green can and found something illegal(not that I don’t recycle but you can always mistakenly put something in)so now I will have to put out my yellow can even if its only half full to keep the inspector from finding an exuse to tax me some more the shame is that with the yellow cans it would be a benifit not to make more pickups than needed but some people are always looking for an exuse to dig into our pockets
YES ITS TRUE!! I also didnt put out my yellow one week and the inspector told me that if it isnt out they are required to go through your green so just beware .. and shlepppp it out whether it is full or not… they will find that one little baby jar that you didnt recycle lol
All cardboard in the can please!!
Or you need 2nd CAN.
one of the arguments for the yellow cans was to minimize the pickups so say a small family only fills it in two weeks its a half minute time saved across the whole town results in saved labor as opposed to the blue cans which required more pick ups so now people will drag it out anyway to avoid the tickets
I had to put a deposit for the second blue can that I got years ago, and never received the deposit back. Am I going to have to put down another “deposit” (obviously not refundable, so I don’t knwo why they call it a deposit) ?
Will I be charged if I ask for a green can? With all the new restrictions on what cannot go into the yellow can, I need a new green one now! We used to recycle ALL plastic…but now they only want bottles with necks, and milk jug type containers.
yeah, i specifically remember john franklin promoting the new yellow bins stating that since they are larger, not every household will find the need to put out every week, which will save time at pickup! so now, not only are they stopping, but they are also spending MORE time documenting which properties dont have the yellow bins out and, as was mentioned earlier, going thru the green bins, if that is actually true : s
my kids loved the blue ones to fill with snow
why is lakewood so against recycling?
Stop complaining and follow the rules.
