Residents Ask Officials To Install Traffic Light On Cedarbridge Avenue

Accidents in Lakewood are not uncommon, but with the recent surge in accidents involving pedestrians t one particular intersection, residents are hoping County officials will do something about it.

A local official has confirmed to TLS that they have received multiple requests to install a light at the heavily traveled intersection of Cedarbridge Avenue and Arlington Avenue – an intersection which sees vehicles frequently exceeding the already high speed limit.

During the week of October 7, there were five pedestrians struck in Lakewood, with three of them struck within minutes of each other at the intersection of Cedarbridge Avenue and Arlington Avenue. One remains in serious condition.

At the same intersection about a year ago, a homeless woman was killed at the same intersection.

Lakewood EMS and Hatzolah have also responded to multiple accidents at the intersection – including one involving an overturned vehicle.

There are currently no plans to install the light, and being that it’s a County road, County officials would have to approve of the plan first. TLS.

  1. How about the extension of Vine Street from Clover Street (yes thru the Lakewood camp ground) and out to Pine with a traffic light on Pine

  2. what happened to MLK and Pine st, it was on the table, several months back then suddenly one appeared up the street where there is 1/100 of the traffic…..weird….

  3. can anyone tell me why a traffic light was installed at Pine Street and Avenue of the States and new sidewalk all the way from Pine St to Cedarbridge ave (very heavy foot traffic) how about a light in front of the fire house to help emergency vehicles enter the busy 4 lane roadway

  4. This light is so stupid. Walk up one more block to cross at the MLK light. If you are walking towards town and back you walk pass that light so cross there. Most of them getting hit are the jokers from tent city. Enough said.

  5. Light at Pine & Ave of the States was result of Federal grant. LW did not pay. Though light is needed at MLK/Pine, there are problems because traffic would get backed up to RT 9 – lots of logistical issues would be involved
