A Lakewood resident is hoping Trump’s immigration plan doesn’t have an affect on Lakewood.
During the recent Township Committee meeting, the resident told the Committee that she was afraid about a proposed section of the soon-to-be-updated immigration reform order which would allow police departments across the state to act as agents of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
The resident wanted the Committee to enforce a policy which would not allow Lakewood Police Officers to arrest and deport immigrants.
Is Lakewood now a sanctuary city???
So I guess that person would rather have us lose all federal funding as well as letting CRIMINALS walk the streets of Lakewood because that’s seems to me what president trump is having ice focus on…
So let me get this straight…. An illegal immigrant is asking the police department not to enforce the laws they are constitutionally bound to uphold so that people who don’t pay taxes can take legal citizens dollars and push the township further into debt???
Hope you guys like cutting your own lawns, careing for your own children and build your own homes. Like it or not, the illegals are too important for this country to be so cavalier

I think you all sound quite mean and inconsiderate. Even if someone is here illegally, there’s still a human being who requires human sympathy and understanding.
If the government until now looked away from this situation, (didn’t strictly enforce the law) then it is the responsibility of the government to come up with humane solutions to the problem they created.
nobody is being mean or inconsiderate, and nobody questioned their status as a human being. If you come this country ILLEGALLY then you take responsibility for your own actions. end of story.it’s not the governments problem to find a solution for these people – no matter how wonderful they are. If they want to join the USA and become a citizen with all the responsibilities that come with it then come legally through the front door. if you break the law you’re a criminal
I don’t understand why people have an issue with this law. The people complaining are people who broke the law. Of course they are human beings, but if they want to stay then come legally. As far as workers are concerned, yes they may be good workers, but others will take their place.
So i guess the resident that asked for the exception doesn’t want her nanny & her gardener to be deported. How selfish.
