It appears some may not be too happy with the fact that the South Side Sandwich Shop offers a weekly Shiur, while the customers enjoy Chulent or a sandwich. The proprietor of the River Avenue shop, Joe (Yosef) Mutterperl, tells TLS an official from the Fire Marshal’s office came into his shop inquiring about an illegal Shul being run.
Yosef says he told the official there was no Shul there, but that there was a 10 minute Shiur which takes place on a weekly basis.
Completing his investigation, the Fire Marshal left the shop. TLS-CCP.
He probably just wanted free chulent!!
I don’t know what anyone would complain about, even if it were a Shul, he has more parking spaces than most other Shul’s in town and he has great sandwiches.
maybe he want to make sure that its a safe place
Before you cry foul, or antisemitism.. if there were a muslim deli, and once a week, 30 muslims gathered to study, would you be offended if someone reported them as running a possible mosque out of an eatery?
Anything good the yetzer hora trys to stop. Keep up the good work!!!!
So the fire man worked things out with the fire marshall…
Professional courtesy…..
And he’s a firefighter too.
how about a mini sloatsburg on route 9??
It’s a great idea
were talking maybe 10 people coming together! take a chill….
every restaurant out there has alot more occupancys at once..
im curious—who complained about a few men learning while eating?—that is more alarming
Oh please! to the commenter who wrote about the muslims-get lost! this is a small crowd probably under 15 people and they dont pray or give lectures like muslims do with loudspeakers and all.
I know Joe and the fire marshal who conducted the investigation, it was nothing more then a routine visit, a few questions were asked and everything was good to go, DONT MAKE SOMETHING OUTTA NOTHING , As a matter of fact Joe and the Fire Marshal happen to be good friends.
Hey Number 6:
Are you saying the Ocean County Fire Marshals are corrupt? That they look the other way?
Keep it up, its a wonderfful shuir! I alwauys enjoy coming for some food and get deveri Torah. it;s a huge kiddush Hashem.
Who cares? What if they wanted to have mincha and maariv also? It would be very nice.
I just spoke with yosef, he said the fire marshal was very nice and understanding & he new that he wasn’t running a shul in his store but a complaint was filled and he had to do his job. he wasn’t angry that he came they had a nice conversation and that was it.
PS the chulent this week & the po’boy was outstanding. Can’t wait for next weeks new sandwich.
Maybe he just got word that the oilam is learning with a “bren”..
Did the marshal leave a magnet?
the only way to properly investigate a chulent is by tasting it.
then if you’r not sure you gotta finish the rest of the bowl.
hmmm, a worthwhile investigation.
maybesome other items need some investigating, will hafta save it for next time.
Wat time does the shuir start?
This from Bob Unruh at World Net Daily:
“Chuck and Stephanie Fromm already have been fined $300 for holding Bible studies for their friends at their home, and they face the potential for additional fines of $500 for each study held, according to a legal team taking their case to court.
The newest conflict over Bible studies in homes in America arose in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., where city officials say city code section 9-3.301 prohibits religious organizations in residential neighborhoods without a conditional-use permit, a sometimes very expensive procedure.”
The code cites “churches, temples, synagogues, monasteries, religious retreats, and other places of religious worship and other fraternal and community service organizations.”
It ain’t over ’til the fat Chazan sings…..
Can I have Zimun with a Minyan? I have a fire extinguisher. What if someone has Hot Poppers or Spicy Fries? Please advise before I get into hot water with the inspectors.
good advertisment for the restaurant at no cost. Every one should stop down for a good Pastrami sandwich. Best in town.
