Lakewood Township is holding its annual Memorial Day Parade, Monday May 26, 2014, starting 10:00 a.m. Organizations and veterans who would like to participate in the Memorial Day parade should contact Sarah Kay in the Mayor’s office at 732-364-2500 ext. 5973 or email skay@lakewoodnj.gov.
The Memorial Day Parade will pass the Review Stand on its way down Clifton Avenue to the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, where the Memorial Day program will take place. Transportation is available to transport the marchers from the lake to the starting point of the parade.
According to Lakewood Mayor Menashe Miller, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to demonstrate their support for our esteemed veterans and our selfless men and women currently in service both here and abroad.”
Participants are requested to be at their assigned location no later than 9:30 a.m. In case of inclement weather the Memorial Day ceremony will be postponed. Call 732-363-0200 Ext. 8401 for information.

For someone who has watched and has marched in the parade, it is sad to see how few people come out to watch the parade.
This is a time to remember our veterans who have lost there lives defending our freedom.
In my opinion every play group should come out, wave fags and watch the police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and all the other vehicles and participants, who are in the parade. Tell me a child that doesn’t want to see a big red fire truck with lights on go by.
It also shows the veterans that you care.
Please get out and support our veterans by coming out for the Memorial Day parade.
