Reflecting The Election: 20/20 Hindsight

By: Aaron Joseph. As the initial dust of the 2012 presidential election begins to clear and the rush to post election articles begin to resonate, it has become obvious that the only reason that the outcome was such and in favor of the incumbent is not being articulated.

Instant media has taken over. I, like you, sat through election eve with instantaneous updates. And while I did go to night Seder for an hour and a half in the middle, Google kept me fully informed even so. Half way through night Seder I began to develop a very deep doubt about the candidate that I had cleared the voting machine selections after making all the selections, just so as to press the button with his name again with my right hand.

Ohio was sinking the boat. And so was Virginia and Iowa. Wisconsin and Colorado was startling as well and all was becoming unglued. Florida’s – too close to call – all evening, was a harbinger of what was to come. Of course, I refused to internalize this right away, all though, had I not been so emotionally attuned to Mitt Romney’s victory, and the man whom I thought for sure would be our 45th President, I would have called the election early on.

None of it made sense, not then, and still not now. The demographics, the geo-political map, the overwhelmingly poor economy factor, the referendum on ObamaCare, very quickly re-termed MediCare, all were huge in favor of the challenger. Yet 11,000,000 less people voted in 2012 than in 2008; not that they would have all come out in favor of Romney, but somehow I believe that more would have.

All in all Mitt Romney lost the race. In a way, all of us who voted for him lost as well. This is the first time in 20 years of voting that I took it so personally and was so completely dismayed by the outcome. Perhaps, as Mr. Romney said recently, it was because President Obama bought so many of the poor and middle-class through all the government aid. However, in the final analysis, Mr. Obama did win by a margin of victory too decisive to doubt. None of it makes sense. Mr. Romney should have won, and it surely seemed within his grasp.

So what happened? As much as I enjoy the sport of politics, I realize, as do you, that a higher authority runs the world. As always, Hashem cast his vote, and HE, is majority, and HIS favorite candidate will always win.

Many things that our Creator does are way beyond my comprehension. We know from childhood, that no matter how much things don’t make sense, we still don’t question. We accept that whatever Hashem does is for the best, as Uncle Moishe sings so well. With this knowledge, I feel so secure understanding that it could not have turned out any better, as it is the ultimate best. As insurance I know that Lev Melachim B’yad Hashem, and hence feel completely secure. In this vain we must all unite as President Obama said during the 2005 Democratic National Convention of which he was a keynote speaker, and which speech propelled him to national prominence: “We are not blue states or red states, we are the United States of America.”

This being said, I would like to congratulate President Obama on his reelection. I would like to offer a blessing by reiterating somewhat of what Mr. Romney had said the night he lost the election. May you merit to realize God’s hand during your next four years in office. I solute you Mr. Romney for the tremendous obvious efforts you placed in offering to serve us all, may you as well be the recipient of God’s blessings. May God Bless America.

  1. “no matter how much things don’t make sense, we still don’t question”
I could not disagree more with that statement we should ALWAYS question things!!! We live in a country that allows us to question everything

  2. Mr. Joseph, very nice article but let’s put it in proper prospective. A vast majority of Lakewood residents benefit from federal programs one way or another. Just to mention a few: food stamps, welfare, and other sponsored programs
One comment you state is poor and middle-class voted for Obama which I am sure is very accurate, so tell me where do the residents of Lakewood fit in. !!!!!!

  3. Are you kidding me? Our nation and the Nation of Israel are now in trouble. Other Nations of the world see it, and for our own good and safety we had better see it too.

I submit a well written article from Pravda. Read it, comprehend it, and take some solace in the points made.

    Russian Newspaper Article –
The irony of this article appearing in the English edition of Pravda (Russian on-line newspaper) defies description. Why can a Russian newspaper print the following yet the American media can’t/won’t see it?

American Capitalism Gone With A Whimper
It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American descent into Marxism is happening with breathtaking speed, against the backdrop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas than the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a Burger King burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America .

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America ‘s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, losses, and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the sheer volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties, and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more than a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama’s command that GM’s (General Motors) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of “pure” free markets, the American president now has the power, the self-given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise that the American president has followed this up with a “bold” move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK ‘s Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, and so let our “wise” Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper…but a “free man” whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set “fair” maximum salaries, evaluate performance, and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Frank, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery without a fight, beating his chest, and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

  4. # 4, Romney lost because of republican values that do not fit our country’s majority right now.
The democrats played there trump cards perfectly: Abortion, immigration, taxes and Obama care were more important then family values, social security, for the majority of Americans.
It’s really a sad time for our country and the next generation. I am not sure how long it will take to pay down the deficit but one thing’s for sure, I will not be around to see it.

  5. Mr. Hobday – the “article” you reproduced is not from the Russian newspaper Pravda, but is instead from a Russian website called PravdaOnline, a media outlet that is NOT connected with the Pravda newspaper, and which is known for its sensationalist reporting. I know this is difficult for those who rely exclusively on Fox for their “news”, but it took me about 30 seconds to confirm this.

  6. why hasn’t my blog been posted? its the truth & everyone deserves to know the truth. then maybe we will start to accept ol Malchus shomayim & accept everything Hashem does. Hashem runs the world.

    Please post the blog
    THANK YOU TLS

  7. #6 Thank you for posting that. The newspaper Pravda was closed many years ago. Mr Hobday, please go to the blog of the author that you quoted (Mat Rodina), check out his site and read about his take on Hurricane Sandy. Please take note some of the pics he posted that are from Katrina, yet he has them attributed to Sandy! Please also note the other stories he has posted there of which NONE of them are newsworthy. They are all ANTI AMERICAN and ANTI WEST. Then tell me then if you truly believe this person is a quote worthy on anything to do with OUR country.

  8. Romney lost because the Republicans put up a group of candidates that were the laughing stock of the political world. Romney was the only one who appeared fairly sane and reasonable. Romney lost because he had his money in the Cayman Islands and Swiss Bank Accounts. Hardly something Americans cherish. Romney lost because he made too many gaffes. The 47% comment. The “I like to fire people” comment. The 31 lies told during the first debate. The refusal to reveal 10 years of tax returns which have now shown that he allegedly did not pay taxes by using the Mormon Church as a trustee of his money. HIs selection of a radical VP whose own town and state did not support him. His determination to kill Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Pell grants and assistance to Americans in national disasters. His association with the party of George W. Bush. The performance of his party from 2000-2008. His inability to relate to the middle/lower class. Flip-flopping on every issue depending on his audience of the moment. Wanting to grant tax breaks for the rich at the expense of the middle class. etc etc His lame excuse for losing by insulting minorities and the poor is just the icing on the cake. We should jump for joy that he lost.
