Leo Pratte, the Regional Director for Community Resources for the Red Cross, will be honored at tonight’s Township Committee meeting, TLS has learned. Pratte will be recognized for his efforts in assisting residents in two particular disasters which hit Lakewood this year.
The first incident involved several families from the High Point development, when a micro-burst ripped the roof off their building, leaving them homeless.
The other incident, was a July storm which left thousands without power, and left families of a Woehr Avenue apartment building displaced when the roof of their building was ripped off.
In both incidents, the Red Cross was called in and set up temporary shelters for the displaced families, until proper shelter could be found for them.
Mr. Pratte will be presented with a plaque by the Mayor. TLS.
Leo was a driving force behind setting a frum disaster response team for the members of our community it consists of around 8 volunteers. These members are all trained in knowing what services the red cross provides at the time of a disaster and they are available to liason for you. everybody should be at this meeting to show their gratitude for leo for what he has done
Leo Pratte is known throughout NJ as a man of action. always willing to be out there in the trenches looking to help mankind. he has been a great asset to the emergency response community. always doing for the community in a quiet and dignified way.
He sounds like a nice guy. Very helpful. I wonder what his salary is. The last CEO of the Red Cross was paid $450,000 a year salary and she was also a retired admiral ($61,000) from the USN, according to stats on the web. The CEO of the Salvation Army make $15,000 a year salary.
Leo is a leader that continues to show leadership . Well deserved
