Reader-Submitted: Seeking Frum Weight Loss Coach

Dear TLS, I have been battling with my weight for years and was told this week by my Doctor that my blood tests came back with not good news. I starting asking around for a frum man who is a dietitian or a weight loss coach and couldn’t find one. Please post this letter and ask anyone who knows any such person to please comment. I think this might benefit others as well

  2. my advice: find out about the “biggest loser program”. they were written up in ami a while back. it is a lakewood program that many men have used and succeeded in losing a lot of weight.

  3. read “Intuitive Eating.” If you are an emotional eater, that is. Emotional eater: someone who eats in secret, hiding, or because of their feelings, not because of hunger, doesnt know when theyre hungry, has binges when theyre not dieting. Its either one or the other, binging or 100% dieting. When theyre dieting theyre miserable. If you hate counting and just want to stop obsessing abouit carns, fat, calories, and just be a normal human, READ THIS BOOK! it has changed my life. you can get it used on for like 99 cents

  4. #17- i see that. however, i have been there, done that! been to 3 dieticians (between each baby). lost weight each time. gained it back each time! Diets are NOT the answer. if they were, no one in america would be fat! no one would gain weight back that they worked so hard to lose and spent so much $ by the dietician! The only answer is to turn into one of those “normal people” who dont think day and night about every bite that goes in their mouths. As soon as a food is restricted, that is all you want. If something is permitted, it loses its appeal (over time.) Think of it this way: if someone said you can eat unlimited oreos/bloomieos: the first day you’d eat 6 packages. the next day, 4, the next day 1, the next day, you would just eat 1 or 2 cookies and be satisfied. its all the mentality. when something is allowed, its not so exciting! tell yourself you are not on a diet anymore! BUT: you can only eat when you are REALLY hungry. You can only eat what you REALLY want, and you have to stop JUST BEFORE being satisfied. tell yourself you can eat again in 5 minutes if you are TRULY hungry again. also have to sit down when eating. no screens, no phones sefer, book. CONCENTRATE! (this book, Intuitive Eating, goes into waaaay more details about this. ) good luck!
