Reader-submitted: All the FedEx and UPS packages in West Gate Plaza which are not in the bin are not being picked up.
They are wet, torn etc. There’s a pile of stuff that must be there at least a week. This was posted on West Gate chat and it looks like it mostly belongs to people outside of Westgate.

Why would someone leave a package that’s not in a secure box..
How do I get added to the ‘Westgate chat’?
Some of the things are there for over a month ..I myself left something there then realized that it was never picked up based on my tracking number so I went back and got it ……
Call ups and complain respectfully
If it’s not in the box they are not responsible to pick it up. The box opening doesn’t allow all boxes to fit or sometimes it’s full. Then you need to bring it to the ups store etc.
To I Agree-complain about what exactly?? That people were silly enough to leave packages on the ground and all around and a) assumed the drivers would pick them up even though they’re not supposed to and b) didn’t bother to go back awhile later or the next day to make sure it was picked up?
It is the policy of both companies that they only pick up items that are in the bin. If it does not fit in the bin you have to drop it off at appropriate office locations. I would never leave a package out in the open like this. I just seems it’s common sense. Are people in Lakewood so uninformed? What a mess this has created leaving all these packages. Complaining to UPS (as one has suggested) will make no difference. The people who left these packages outside the bin are the problem.
I was once there when the driver came for the pickup and I hand delivered my box. The driver asked me if I would have left it there if he hadnt been there when I came. The driver was really upset and had some nasty words to say. At first I was upset that the driver cared that we left the boxes outside the drop off bin. I felt that these bins were a location that UPS offers as a service for anyone to leave their boxes to get picked up, and I felt that if we Yidden trusted each other to leave our boxes unattended then why would the driver care. I felt that the driver’s job was to take any box that someone has, that has to get to the UPS facility (just as he would gladly take the box that I handed him-I do this all the time…).
Then the other day I was in westgate again and I watched as a driver came and left the other boxes that were outside the bin. I then checked the bin and noticed that there is a sign stating clearly that these bins are only meant for a specific size box (ones that would fit into the bin) and I realized that maybe we are wrong for leaving our boxes outside the bin if all over UPS has these bins with a sign stating the guidelines…
All those who leave their packages outside the bin are the ones who are wrong, not the driver of the UPS. I would think it is common sense to know not to leave your package outside the box and that if it is too big to fit in the box then you have to bring it to the shipper or pay extra to have it picked up at your address.
There are a few UPS and FedEx store locations around Lakewood that these packages can easily be dropped off at. There is no need to be lazy and expect others to do the work for you. In fact, I would not be surprised that there are strict regulations that prevents drivers from picking these packages up.
