Never go to sleep without checking if you’re kids are in bed. Our boys were supposed to come home from night activity, and while one child came into the bungalow at 2 AM, the other did not return.
Attempts to reach the bus driver and camp director were unsuccessful.
I immediately called Hatzolah and made my way over to the camp to see if the bus was there.
Boruch Hashem, when I got to the camp, I discovered that the bus driver was taking a snooze in the van before he had to return to his Bungalow, and !y son was sound asleep in the backseat of the van.
No one is to blame for what happened, but this just serve as a reminder to never go to sleep before you know your kids are tucked away with a hug and a kiss.

No one is to blame?!?! You’re being too nice.
i am trying to wonder why anyone would need to say don’t go to bed . who would ever. my daughter is 20 and I don’t go to sleep if she is not home or I know exactly where she is. we as parents need to take more time and make sure our children are safe. I read far to often on this site about children being hurt and parents no where to be found. these are out children wake up !!!
I would assume that it would be the camp van drivers responsibilty to check the van before he decides to take a nap. If he was going to go directly home, also . We have heard some stories during the school year { child chinot just in Lakewood} where the bus was parked back in the yard and a child was fast asleep in the back: what those poor parents had to go through till they located their. child
Once again… Why would anyone ever have to be reminded of something like this?
Also, didn’t the child realize his/her brother didn’t get off the bus and walk into bungalow with him/her? Especially at 2:00am?
How old were the children that were coming home at 2:00 AM?
