If a water main is being placed in your street, the lateral to your home is FREE. Simply, fill out a form at NJ water on James Street.
There are areas in town (Carasaljo area , Sylvan Court etc.) that don’t have city water and rely on well water. If a developer needs for his purposes to install a water main, it is costly. I almost fell victim to an unscrupulous developer who tried to insist I must share the cost. In truth, aside from that blatant lie, the developer receives a refund for every home he gets connected during initial water main installment.
