VIDEO: Dear TLS Readers, This video may not be as dramatic as others I have seen posted here, but its still important to note. It is considered reckless driving to cut through a parking lot across the spots. You are required to use the lanes for your travel.
As you can see from this video, I am calmly driving down a lane looking for a spot, when a car drives in front of me, nearly causing a collision.
Please note, he was not pulling out of a spot. He was cutting across the entire parking lot straight down the middle from the left side to the right. Yes, it was slow motion, yes I was able to stop in time, no, no one got hurt. But how many close calls do we have to have before something bad does happen?
Please stop being lazy, use the designated driving lanes for driving and use the parking spots ONLY for parking.
Thank you!

Why r u Recording video while driving?
to#1….. Lots of people have permanent dash cams installed to capture video while driving. I am thinking of getting one myself. I guess in a situation like this if he were to have hit the other driver, he would have video evidence that it was the other guys fault.
get if life. Im not saying this is legal but it looks like this guy was paying attention and not driving dangerously.
do you jay walk???? its illegal.
do you cross the street anywhere other then a corner???? its illegal
you can be ticketed for this!!
Mr #3:
i also drive through parking spots, but I WAIT TILL THE LEGAL driver can pass, and then i pass. i know that its illegal. but the legal driver should have priority, and he shouldn’t need to look out for me
Was that a New York license plate on that van????
Stop defending people who do illegal things. It absolutely amazes me that people have no shame. It is becoming more dangerous to drive through Lakewood than to drive through Harlem.
please post if you have a permanent camera on your dash! seriously?
grow up
hey # 7 – i have had a camera installed in my car since 1999. In 2003, i was driving in ohio. A car pulled in front of me and slammed on his breaks, causing me to hit him. The cops came and he claimed i drove up behind him and rammed him. They were all set to ticket me, which would have resulted in my insurance going up, not to mention the law suits against me. Then, I showed the cops the footage. They ripped up the ticket , PLACED HIM IN HANDCUFFS and arrested him. It was one of the greatest moments ever and made me realize just how important it is to have everything recorded.
# 9 story sounds funny 1) why did they write a ticket why didn’t you show them the video right away in fact you first write “They were all set to ticket me” and then later you write that you got a ticket but they ripped it up! 2) since when do you get locked up for causing an accident
to #10 – they guy was pulling off a classic rear end insurance fraud. and he got arrested for providing false information , once confronted with the video, he admitted.
Does anyone remember the incident where a woman claimed she had an accomplice, which resulted in a young police officer getting hit by a car, and dying from her lie. The police takes this VERY seriously. They can arrest you for lying. It’s called obstruction of justice, which is a very serious offense. As you can see in that story the other person blatantly lied to the cops.
