I was told that the Starbucks in Howell is now Cholov Yisroel, so we went to check it out. There was a sign in the front that the milk used in Cholov Yisroel. I asked if there is any other milk used, and they replied that only Cholov Yisroel milk is used.
Then I noticed a picture advertising egg bites made with bacon, and another dish with steak. Horrified, I asked if the equipment is washed together, and was told that they only have one washing machine (she must have meant dishwasher), and the equipment is washed together! Pure treif!
While I was there, I saw many frum Yidden entering, ordering, and leaving. While there may be certain products that you can still order, please be aware that many are not OK, especially the Frappucinos.

The traif is traif but starbuks has updated the frappes they are now Kosher
I was told that anything that says on the star k website, “cholov stam but pareve with almond milk” is cholov yisroel in Howell (and toms river) since they only use pride of the farm milk, but anything that is cholov stam without adding cream, is cholov stam in Howell too, since it was previously made with cholov stam ingredients. Btw most of the frapps are Cholov Yisroel
According to the very article linked, the Star-K states that the Howell, Lakewood and Toms River Starbucks (see there specifically) employ “kosher friendly equipment rinse practices” and can be relied on. So regardless of what the barista may have said, according to the Star-K, there is no issue whatsoever.
Is drinking coffee from Starbucks so important that one is willing to take a chance concerning its Kashrus? This is not an inyan of pikuach nefesh!

It’s about time everyone should relize there is a reason frum Jews only assume its kosher if it actually has a reputable hashgocha . Anything without a hashgocha in prepared foods is for all practical perposes Traif(for those that consider them self frum)
i know from kosher dunkin donuts, they use only fake bacon. a starbucks with a hechsher probably does the same or they wouldnt have a hechsher

The Star K that you attached States it’s kosher with a green check by frappachino. I’m not sure this writer knows what they’re saying, typical article of writing with no investigative work.

Star k does not give a hashgocha. They didn’t and don’t take responsibility. All the green check is (and most are ‘bedievd’s/if have nothing to drink!?) that if Starbucks follows what they say they do then it’s technology kosher. But there is no hashgocha that they do it, not from star k and not even from ‘goyish Starbucks’ ! They themselves will not claim it’s kosher as they may be ‘sued’ for ‘misrepresentation’ as they may caught on a green-Tuesday washing in a ‘none-so-Kosher friendly’ manor which deems their food not kosher. So Starbucks understand they can’t claim they’re Kosher. It’s America you can do what you want, but like they say in ‘Yiddish’ ‘red dich nish aan’= don’t try too hard to convince yourself
Please continue to post these awareness letters to keep us on our toes about things we should rightfully be concerned about.
But let’s not jump to conclusions about what’s trief or that everyone is wrong about something.

Firstly, nowhere on that page are the word “they take no responsibility” found. I’m not sure why you made it up. Secondly, the Star-K’s implication is clear that those Starbucks are completely permissable. (Also note, according to the Star-K you may go to any Starbucks Bsha’as hadchak – obviously there is no issue of treif in the strict sense, as that would never be muttar.)
So, yes. I take full responsibility.
The caramel drizzle that they pour on top of the frappucinos does not have a hechsher, the worker even told me he doesn’t know if it’s kosher, it has no certification.
I once heard at a Kashrus event that Dunkin Donuts is not a problem cuz the water in the dishwasher never gets to yad soledes boi. I have a hard time believing Starbucks and Dunkin advertise their breakfast bacon and its NOT bacon.

Here are a few facts I checked with STAR K
Frappuccinos are made cold the only issue is that some have cholov Stam see star k list for details
Espresso based drinks have NOTHING that is washed in any machine.
Drip coffee baskets are rinsed but even if they would be washed in the machine would not be washed with other keilim as they are too large
No food is made in a Starbucks sandwiches are frozen individually wrapped and heated in an oven. There is no cross contamination due to very strict separation between food and drinks.
In our Lakewood stores the ONLY Shailoh is by a latte a SAFEK if clean partially non kosher knives and tongs which are sanitized in the machine with soap and pagum and furthermore batel in the dishwasher were washed with the metal pitcher or spoon used for a latte. Rav Heinemann himself reviewed a store in person and agreed That this is not ASSUR and is permitted.

I was in Starbucks and ordered a complicated drink. When I received it, I passively asked if it was kosher and the woman said it was not. I asked her why I wasn’t told this at the register, as I’m clearly a religious Jew. She answered because they are not allowed to. This means they know we can’t have specific drinks, yet they continue to serve them. This is the situation, and thewe are the people u are trusting with the hashgocha of your drinks.
The caramel drizzle is certified kosher per Star K BUT cholov Stam anything on star k list has Certified ingredients EVEN WITHOUT SYMBOL… Regardless of what they say in store
There are so many fine coffee shops in town that are high end & would spend the profits of your sales back into local businesses…

it is highly doubtful that the employees and baristas even know what and how to define “kosher”.. its funny to even consider their input whether something is kosher or otherwise..
#1 it is my understanding that commercial dishwashers have a very high minimum temperature that they must be run at per health department standards. I find it hard to believe that it’s not “Yad Soledes Bo”.
#2 anything that is “Cholov Yisroel”, once the package is unsealed and in the control of a Goy, loses its Cholov Yisroel status.
Starbucks coffee is muddy water. Wouldn’t drink it if you payed me. I’d rather patronize the kosher establishments. There are plenty of places to go here.
I have boycotted Starbucks for several years since their CEO, Howard Schultz, began strongly advocating anti-Torah causes. Frum Yidden should look into it and I think they will conclude that boycotting solves their Kashrus questions.
FYI- He is no longer the CEO. You can start to enjoy your Starbucks once again
