I received an email that looked very legit. It was from “Service Member” with the subject line “account login from Singapore.”

It went on to say just like any other security email states.

“Hi your account was recently logged in from a new browser in Singapore. Your account has been recently disabled for security reasons. Please login to your icloud account to reset your password. And they sent a “customer support” link to click to officialy reset my password.”

I have gotten these emails in the past if I logged on with a new laptop or phone.

The word “Singapore” got me nervous because china is notorious for hacking. That got me thinking. I looked at the bottom of the email where it says the address and other info. I saw it says “copyright 2018”. That got me thinking even more that something is off. Next, I clicked on the “Service Member” name to see the email address it came from and this was the email address. “[email protected]”.

I called real apple support and they told me it was a phishing email like I suspected. They advised me to fwd the email to [email protected].

These emails can look pretty legit but with a little suspicion & a little digging, you can find these little inconsistencies. If you do suspect anything, go online and find the correct number to call and confirm if it was or wasnt that actual institution that emailed you.
