UPDATED: This past year, I have had the Zchus to be learning in Yeshiva in Yerushalayim. The Dirah that I lived in was in an apartment building full of lively families. Throughout the year I became friendly with the families here, and they were always there to make us feel at home.
One of the kids in my building is 12 year old Avidan, who is now considered to me like a little brother. One day, Avidan came with his father to my Dirah and the father told me he is going to America for the first time in need of 30 thousand dollars for his son’s surgery. I didn’t know what he was talking about, until the father showed me. He takes off Avidan’s sock and I see his foot is misshapen, and completely deformed.
Little did I know, the family’s difficulties are plentiful – and this was just one of many issues, R”L.
He is coming to America to collect, but unfortunately he is one of hundreds of Israeli’s that go to America each year to collect for their family debt or problem. This family however, I know personally, and has absolutely no food to put on the table – and now to pay for this$30,000 surgery, which insurance doesn’t cover, is beyond what they could handle.
I want to help this man, his family, and Avidan because when he gets to America he will be going door to door for a month, and probably not get even close to what he needs. He is in enough pain.
Iy”h Avidan’s father will be coming to America in the coming days for some time to collect the funds needed for the surgery. I am asking of you to please help me make it easier for him so he doesn’t have to stay here for too long, by donating whatever amount of money you’r capable of, so the surgery can be done as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Chaim Zev Smith

CZ I wish you all the best and may you always be able to help others!
Whats the name of the person so we can know whom to look out for. Unfortunatly there are many people that come for such a problem.
often when I see these collections my initial reaction is oy vey what can I do I have a very small income myself not really enough to cover our own bills or to get a mortgage so we can own a home even with both myself and my wife working.
BUT then I try to think to myself all the things that I do have to be grateful and what better segula can there be to not have such troubles ourselves than to help out these unfortunate families! how I wish I can afford to give every collector generously!
PLEASE JOIN IN AND GIVE FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT EVEN IF YOU CANT AFFORD IT FOR THE ONE IN NEED CONSIDER YOURSELF THE ONE IN NEED!
chaim zev always looking for an opportunity to help others less fortunate

It’s very nice that you want to help this family from Eretz Yisroel however I always learned that “Chesed starts at home” There are so many needy people right here in Lakewood, for example myself. I’m already over $50,000 in medical debt and need more medical help but I can’t afford it and there are no organizations that are willing to help me as I have good insurance, they are busy helping the people who have no insurance or are on Jersey Care, but since my husband and I are working it seems like we should be able to afford to pay for everything ourselves.
It’s time to help your community members…your Lakewood residences
I totally understand you!
may hashem help you very very soon!
Maybe you have someone you are close with that can start a fund for you bderech kovod and post it here on the scoop it doesn’t have to be an official brand name organization to help you (but tax deduction does help make it eiseaer for people to give so try to have that someone arrange that. Hatzlacha!
May you have refuoes and yeshuos bekorov
Refuah Shelaymah and Hatzlacha Rabbah!
To #9, you may be entitled to supplemental insurance or charity care to help cover your medical / hospital bills if you can’t afford the deductibles and co-pays. Maybe you should start by calling LRRC… Hatzlachah! and Refuah Shelaima!
Obamacare will take care of everyone!
