In case Motzei Pesach bagels aren’t your thing, you may want to treat yourself to a – perhaps costly – slice of pizza. RCCS is attempting to raise money by auctioning off a ‘first pie out of the oven’ pizza following Pesach, and the highest bidder from each participating city will win.
The auction – which is for residents of Boro Park, Flatbush, Queens, Williamsburg, Monsey, Lakewood, Lawrence, Baltimore and Monroe – is being hosted by the ebay auction site.
The beginning price for the pie, is $18. Click here to view their ebay page.
The page states that the pizza – from J2 – is in ‘new’ condition, and ‘pickup is required’.
RCCS, the Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society, subsidizes health insurance premiums for cancer-stricken patients in need.
TLS.
they should raffle off the first pie the day after, atleast it will be cooked!!
For me Motzei Yom Tov it’s going to be leftovers and that includes maccaroons and any charrosses left from the seder. Not to mention a cup of prune juice.
I am embarrassed. For this to go down in Lakewood is truly embarrassing. Not to mention that rccs loses all credibility and chashivus that it ever had in my eyes. They just lost any donation I would ever give them.
I beilve the minyan shelonu did it last year but they kept the auction withen the boys they didn’t make it public
Hope i win the auction. Also they removed the “new” condition and charge $6 for shipping, huh?!
#3 What’s the problem?? It’s a way for a worthy organization to get a donation. So what if someone gets the first pie who cares?? What’s wrong with tzidaka??
To#4
Yes the minyan shelanu has rights to the first Pie of pizza from j2 and pizza plus and we have been selling the 1st pies for a # of years now. We will have to look in to this issue as there is only 1st pie coming out of the oven at J2. Rccs please come up with your own ideas to raise $.
REPLY TO #6 The end rarely justifies the means
stop turning us into (moderated) we want people to get better not worse
stop it now
it the wrong thing to do!!
A Busha and a Charpa.
#7This idea is years old long be4 the Minyan was born.
They have been doing this for years out of lakewood. Face it, people do go out and get pizza on m’pesach, so why can’t an organization try to make money off of those people? If you are not the type to get pizza on m’pesach than obviously this auction is not for you! You don’t have to bash an amazing organization because they are trying to raise $ from a certain group of people. On a side note there are plenty of people who bid on this pie even if they are not going to get the pizza, they do it just to give tzedaka. The organization has a tremendous responsibility on there hands to raise much needed funds, there is no reason for them to be bashed if they are raising it in a “fun” and kosher way. Once again, just because you don’t hold of something, does not mean its a bad thing and shouldn’t be done. Don’t be selfish.
I don’t think the doctors who deal with the C. patients are big chasidim of eating pizza.
I love reading all these comments from people who are shocked and flabbergasted by this promotion. I see YOU, yes YOU on line buying pizza all the time. I see you spending $500 at the supermarket, at least half of which is junk food and nosh
To # 3 RCCS is an amazing organization! Instead of cursing them out, daven that u should never have to use them!
Sorry, corrected.
If they really want to make money they should give out cards that state,
“In leui OF pizza this motze Pesach, a donation was made on your behalf to ABC Tzeddah organazation.”
to #12 thank you well said, this pizza will taste wonderful can’t wait
I am the high bidder right now……..i can smell it already……..
Mamish a bizayon for am yisroel-no other words necessary
Just to clarify pizza with tomato sauce high in antioxidandt and other very healthy nutrients is highly recommended by doctors
Why are they charging $6.80 for shipping?? If pickup is mandatory, I highly doubt it’s being delivered to my door!
highest bidder so far, hahaha!
Everybody, please calm down. I highly doubt anyone would pay upwards of $100, or however much this will ultimately goes for, just for a pie of pizza. Nobody thinks pizza is worth that much. But it’s a good cause, and they plan to buy pizza motsei pesach anyway, so why not. If it were JII making money on it, I doubt it would go very high at all. Not everything has to be so serious!
im the highest now
Just put a bid in. Its a great cause i hope the price goes up real high . To # 3 no one need your pennies…. maybe complain to the Rabbis about this !!
IM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF I WIN COULD I USE MASSER GELT???
Sorry #24, I’m the highest once more 🙂
Wait, what?! How was I outbid again??
>(((
I am trying to figure out why the moderator did not post my comment, telling number 3 we do not need his pennies, and he should complain to the rabbis about this auction ?
Its an amazing thing to try to raise money for this amazing organization…but like come on does it have to be over food? especially pizza?? are there really people out there willling to pay 100 dollars or more for pizza???? Also for all those people that wait on line ffro hours for pizza on mtz pesach…i dont know how you do it?? are you really that desperate for pizza right after pesach is over?? is that a way to end of ur yomtov RUNN to the pizza store??? not my speed at all…evryone grow up!!!!!
I’m all with the poster who pounds leftovers and charoses motzei pesach!!!!! And sheesh let the rccs find watever way they like to raise $!they’re tzaddikim and you know what, some people would give 200bux for pizza and 2bux if prize were something more spiritual.al pi darco…rccs is smart!!
ppl are not paying 100.00s for pizza. they are giving money to tzedakah. this is an extra cute way to make $.
Tanur rishon is a hiddur.
im the highst now!!!!! awsome
