[COMMUNICATED] Hagaon Rav Chizkiyahu Mishkovsky and Harav Mordechai Karelitz arrived today from Eretz Yisroel, for a brief three-day mission on behalf of the Gedolei Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel. This emergency mission comes at the close of registration for the upcoming Chinuch Atzmai school year.
Boruch Hashem, thanks to the generosity of transportation sponsors from Lakewood and Torah communities around the world, more than 30,000 children from secular homes across Eretz Yisroel’s far-flung periphery moshavim will be attending Torah schools this year. Yet large numbers of children still await sponsors. All that separates these children from a nitzchiyus of shemiras hatorah vehamitzvos is the relatively low cost of a bus ride to get them to school. The rest is covered under the regular Chinuch Atzmai network budget.
This last minute crisis has pulled these two talmidei chachamim away from their Gemaras on an emergency mission to solicit last-minute sponsors for these children. Naturally, their destination was Lakewood, the Torah citadel established by Harav Aharon Kotler, founder and visionary of Chinuch Atzmai.
Lakewood has been the staging ground for broadcasting the call of the Gedolei Yisroel regarding the Chov Kadosh for each and every individual to sponsor a minimum of one child. Askanim are working with the distinguished visitors to relay the call of the Gedolim and the urgency of the current crisis. May their efforts serve as a means of generating Zechusim for Klal Yisroel in these days leading up to the Yamim Noraim.

Not taking away anything from this important cause, but what about local issues where our neighbors are unable to get their kids into schools and/or are having a hard time paying tuition.
Especially when schools are threatening not to re-register your child.
We must all give something, if the Gedolei Yisroel send these chashuva men during Elul away from the yeshiva obviously its pikuach nefesh. #1 do not question daas Torah.
I dont think he is questioning Daas Torah at all. There is enough money in Lakewood to do both . I am sure that Daas Torah in EY assumes that we are taking care of oor own also and not just forgetting about our own and sending the money overseas instead .
There are many parents here who can’t afford tuition. We cant expect the mosdos to pick up the tab and not pay their teachers timely or adequately because of that .
There are many local kids who are drowning without tutoring and their parents can not afford it .
