Radio Host Judi Franco, a Strong Fighter Against Anti-Semitism in Ocean County, wins National Award

Radio host Judi Franco, of the Dennis & Judi show of Townsqure Media and NJ 101.5, has won a Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation.

Despite it being an unpopular thing to do, Franco continuous to fight anti-Semitism, bias, misconceptions and more around Lakewood, Ocean County, and around New Jersey. On many occasions, Franco was attacked for her defense of Jewish people around the State.

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) announced the winners of the 47th Annual Gracie Awards which will return in-person on May 24, 2022 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. The event will honor some of the most talented women in television, radio and digital media.

“Throughout this past year we have seen a number of remarkable projects by and about inspirational women,” said Becky Brooks, President, Alliance for Women in Media Foundation. “We are honored to shine a spotlight on these women, whose stories have driven cultural awareness, offered entertainment that has made us laugh, cry, and everything in between. This year, we will be returning to the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and are delighted to return to an in-person format so that we can properly celebrate together.”

The Gracies celebrate exemplary talent and programming created by, for and about women in radio, television, and digital medias. Honorees are selected in national, local and student markets, including both commercial and non-commercial outlets in entertainment and news.

Franco has been a radio personality for approximately twenty years.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am to have received this Gracie award,” Franco said. “To be acknowledged amongst all of the outstanding women in this industry is such an honor.

Franco says putting herself out there the way she does could get scary.

“It’s a scary thing to do a show where you put your opinions out there all day,” Franco says. “Most days I feel pretty vulnerable and I get my share of criticism. But this award makes it worth it. It means that Townsquare Media and the Board of the Gracie awards, the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, support women like me, who often have to work harder to be respected and have their voices heard.

“I owe them, and our listeners, a debt gratitude, Franco said.”

  1. I love Judi and Dennis too. Long time listener. I consider myself her ashkenazi soul sister. I have heard her speak in defense of Lakewood Orthodox Jews in a positive and nice and lighthearted way. Glad she is getting recognition.
