PHOTOS: While many know that Matzah baking for Pesach begins in the Winter, what many don’t know is that the Matzah process actually begins much earlier with the cutting of the wheat early Summer.
This past Thursday, the Lakewood Matzah Bakery began the process for next year’s Pesach Matzos, together with several prominent Rabbonim from Lakewood.
Joining the wheat-cutting process in Columbus, NJ, were Rav Shmuel Meir Katz – the Rav Hamachshir, Rav Heineman from the Star K, Rav Krupenia, Rav Wosner and Rav Freidman. TLS/Photo credits the Lakewood Shopper.
why can’t they wear those hats in lakewood? why always black??
how would that be Kemach Yashan if it is cut after Passover?
It took root before pesach.
This looks like a very chashuv lineup of rabonim that attended
Thanks for posting.
Its a friendly reminder on all the effort it takes to bake matzas Ke’daas U’kadin
I would think that a special Thank you goes out to all those out there to do this for the tzibbur. Let’s remember that it was about 100 degrees out there on Thursday!! Yasher Koach!!!
Wow! I found this very interesting. I had no idea that wheat is cut so early in preparation for Pesach. I can’t even think that far ahead. Also, a very good point was made about how hot it was those days while the rabbanim where doing such a mitzvah. They have my greatest respect. Funny how people take so much for granted & don’t realize what is entailed regarding observances.
