Rabbi Rotberg cancels Shul Purim Mesiba; Other Shuls expected to follow

Rabbi Moshe Rotberg today announced he is cancelling this year’s Purim Mesiba at his Shul.

There is talk about other Shuls cancelling as well.

See the notice below.

“Unfortunately, due the current uptick in the Lakewood greater area of Covid cases, as well as numerous hospitalizations, we have decided to cancel this year’s Purim Mesiba. We realize the disappointment this will cause, especially to all our children and grandchildren, but we believe that this is the best course of action at this juncture. Hopefully we can come back to normal life in the very near future. Besuros tovos.”

  1. Impressed. Other Shuls should follow. There is a new strain that is effecting those in their 20s, 30s and 40s creating much heartache among local families.

I was in 4 stores yesterday and there were maybe a handful of masks. Why? Firstly, it’s the law and secondly, it really works to help prevent the spread of this terrible strain.

    Be Safe and Be Smart!!

  2. Kudos to Rabbi Moshe Rotberg!
Thank you for being the “Nachshon”!
Rabbi Rotbergs vast Halachic knowledge and tremendous knowledge in Science and Medicine is very credible .
I would hope all other Shuls and Congregations in Lakewood and the surrounding areas will follow suit.
May we be a zoche for this “ Mageifa“
To end and and for Moshiach “Bkarov Mamash”!

  3. Wow it takes a yirei shamayim and a true leader to do what is right and not just follow the masses. Finally a rav is standing up and in effect saying mi laHashem ailai. When we see that there are yidden hospitalized, vented and dying from covid and we refuse to take any precautions to prevent those vulnerable among us from contracting this disease it shows a lack of caring for others which I doubt brings nachas to the Aibeshter. Perhaps when we are willing to give up on some of our own pleasures and comforts for the sake of our fellow yidden, even if we ourselves are not afraid of this virus, Hashem will end this magaifa once and for all.
