  1. I think the behavior problem ,stems from the parents spoiling the kids & giving in to whatever they want . . In the olden days you got iber geleigt & give a godd spanking ! Today ?? who still does it that way ??n

  2. To #1: LISTEN to the clip! LISTEN to your kids! You can give them everything they want or not! – the ‘shtuyot’ you give them won’t drive them away- its the time and attention you DON’T give them that will drive them elsewhere! Parents today give children toys and gadgets, thinking it will keep them busy and leave the parents alone… That’s the core of the problem my dear! NOTHING in the world can substitute a father and mother.

  3. has nothing to do with the internet ,has to do with good parenting skills ,the internet if used wisely is a great source of information.
The “old” school always wants to blame the new technology for the ills of society .

You are so messed up, it’s scary! I too use the internet for good uses. I don’t like your undertone one bit though! It implies that we(or you) are smarter then the “old” school. I wonder why you only put the quotation marks around the word OLD. Are you trying to imply that the “old” people are not as bright as the enlightened person you must be?! R’ Twerski has seen it ALL during his career yet you think you know better.

Oh, btw, if you listened to his speech before commenting you’d know that he specifically said that our generation is suffering from this more than past generations BECAUSE the children don’t have parent’s. Their parents are way to busy for them. Now isn’t that exactly what you were saying? I thought so.

  5. A while back,Lakewood had a Godol Hador’s son in BMG. He was asked what is his Most memorable moment with his holy father. His reply shocked many. He remembered fondly how his father came home one day, amidst his very busy day, took off his long coat and Played some basketball with his Son!!!!

  6. Why are we sticking our heads in the sand. Almost everyone nowadays have to use the internet for something. The kids will see this so there is not use of hiding. What we need to show is how to use it PROPERLY. I dont think schools need to make every parent sign that they dont have internet because it is causing people to say SHEKER! Wake up to the real world and understand the internet is here to stay. It is not a passing fad or something that will fade. So let us figure out ways to use it properly then trying to ban in for good (which will not work).

  7. To # 13 “blue shirt”: Your statement is the most ignorant I’ve read here on TLS or any Jewish web site.

The “Internet is here to stay” is a reason why we should all have it in our homes?! …According to you, Why don’t we just abolish the whole Torah… most of the “Issurim” written in there are “here to stay”?!

Internet is not something which you teach “how to use it PROPERLY”… that’s not the issue – everyone knows how to use it properly. Did you ever here of something called temptation (AKA “yetzer harah”)? It’s hard enough fighting the yetzer harah without giving it any advantages.

IF YOU KEEP WALKING ALONG THE EDGE OF A CLIFF YOU WILL EVENTUALLY FALL OFF!

  8. To Lakewood Resident says:
wow sounds like I struck a nerve My use of the word old in now way appies to someones age so you clearly mis read that .Some people just have a problem with change and that is what my referance was (by the way in age I”m old myself ,however very open minded to new methods and technology )
so calm down and don’t just make assumptions about someone else voiceing their oppinion

  9. The internet is here to stay. So is television. So is chutzpah. So is traffic and townhouses. So is Obama and socialism and rising anti-semitism. So is zumba and facebook and long shaitels and short skirts and the Muslim Brotherhood and Iranian nuclear bombs and same-gender marriage and credit card debt.

So learn to live with it.

  10. I actually think that “Blue Shirt” makes a very good point. What I believe he is saying is that it is more dangerous to ignore reality than to accept it and train our children how to deal with it. I believe it is immensely more dangerous for someone who was raised in a very “sheltered” environment, when confronted with the “modern world” he/she doesn’t know how to deal with it. They tend to go to extremes because they were never trained how to appropriately use these technological advances. That is the point… ignoring the reality doesn’t prepare someone to cope with it when they ultimately and realistically will be exposed to it. Our job in being Mechanech our children is to train them how to to confront the world at large, and be “Ehrlech”… not to ignore it. Is there risk in this model? You bet… but IMHO, a whole lot less risk than trying to ignore it and hope for the best… there is an old saying… hope is not a plan!

  11. To Yid says:
Quote”So is Obama and socialism ” ~ don’t think so
Quote “Iranian nuclear bombs” ~ This is scary
These two things are within the realm of whether the people of this great nation will allow them to happen ,only time will tell .Lets hope neither comes true !
