!Oy Vey!
“Chaval Al deavdin vloy mistakchin”
The Greenwalds Z”l . I had in mind to write this when Reb Yankel zl was nifter a few weeks ago. The Ribono Shel olom wants me to write now.
I grew up daily and weekly on the Greenwalds block the famous Sylvan Road in Monsey.
What a special couple they were, always there for each other, and the whole house atmosphere was kovod and helping the Klall. It was a Reshus Harabim mammash. They were the best on the block. They treated us as one family, whenever u walked into the Greenwalds,do u want some good Koookosh,or a candy or a drink. Always giving. I can’t remember them not giving of themselves, both time, monies, and always a smile,a gut Vort from Reb Yankel and His wife. They were simply aristocrat people. Beloved by all and everyone. Reb Yankel Minayan and Shiurim were legendary. Yeh Zichronom Baruch. Binyomin Hofman Ben Reb Yosef and Ilsa Zl.
My family and I were very close to Rabbi and Mrs Greenwald.
I am raising money to have a sefer Torah written for them. If anyone wants to donate you can reach out to me my emailing [email protected].
Thank you!

We were zoche to be their neighbors for a few summers when they joined our small community in Highland Mills, NY, just outside of Kiryas Yoel. R” Yankel and his wife were legend. He had stories with gedolim, b’li g’vul, and the Rebbitzen was always with a smile and a kind word.
