[Reader Submitted – Questions based on the video message of Assembly Candidate Howard Kleinhendler] I actually sat and listened to this entire campaign speech, and would like to discuss each point you make:

LOWER PROPERTY TAXES: Will you support Christie to put a cap on property tax hikes, or will you support your fellow Democrats who have stopped Christie from implementing caps on property tax hikes?

GET MORE MONEY FROM WASHINGTON: The more money you get from Washington, the more our taxes will go up to pay for that money. Stop the spending! And besides, how exactly will you pull that off by going to Trenton. Trenton is not Washington, you know.

EVERY $1 WE SEND TO WASHINGTON, WE GET BACK .59, WHILE VIRGINIA GETS BACK $1.50: That’s because of the very liberal policies of your fellow liberals who tax wealthier people more than poorer people. NJ, which has the second to highest income per capita in the Unites States, obviously pays more taxes than other states —- to pay for the poorer states. Isn’t that what you liberals want?

YOU WANT TO CREATE JOBS? Lower tax rates. As a businessman, you should know that the less taxes that businesses pay, the more they will invest and the more they will hire. Even Barack Obama said that when he signed the extension of the Bush tax cuts.

20% VACANCY RATE. THAT’S UNACCEPTABLE: No kidding. Yet, notably missing from your “plan” is lowering the tax rates to attract businesses. Seriously, why would any business come to NJ with a 9% corporate tax rate? Even liberal NY has a 7.1% state corporate tax rate. If I were a business, I’d rather go to Virginia with a 6% tax rate or Florida with a 5.5% tax rate.

YOU WILL INVEST IN INFRASTRUCTURE SPENDING: Do you mean shovel-ready jobs???? Enough said.

MOM LINE SOMEONE HAS GOT TO KNOCK ON THE DOOR IN WASHINGTON AND TELL THEM WE WANT THE MONEY FOR THE MOM LINE: And how exactly are you going to be able to do that from Trenton. Trenton isn’t Washington, you know.

SALES TAX HOLIDAYS: Did you actually just say that cutting taxes will be a boom for business, and actually add to state revenues?? I thought only Tea Party extremists say that? Well, if you agree with the Tea Party that cutting taxes boosts the economy and creates jobs, why not eliminate the sales tax rate altogether? Why just for two weeks? Or at least cut it to 2%, and watch business “boom” in your words.

UNEMPLOYMENT IS UP: Thank you Obama

CREDIT RATING IS DOWN: So let’s stop borrowing so much and our credit rating will go up.

REVENUES ARE DOWN: So let’s cut the taxes already. (as per your logic that lower taxes will make business boom)

PROPERTY TAXES ARE UP: Actually they’ve practically doubled under the administrations of Democrats Corzine and McGreevy, and stabilized under Christie. Thank you Christie. And yet, the Democrats will still not allow Christie to permanently cap property tax hikes. Why not?

JERSEY CARE: Every state in the country is cutting Jersey Care. Get real. Medicaid is broke, and it’s going to be cut. You can tell people that you are going to save it, but if you were honest with people, you would tell them the truth. It’s going to be cut. Not this year, but in the near future. There is no more money to pay for it.

THE ASSEMBLY AND SENATE IS CONTROLLED BY THE DEMOCRATS. Hmmm. I thought Christie caused all these problems. Do you mean to tell me that it was really the Democrat Legislature that had the power the last few years??? Oh right, that’s why Christie wasn’t able to get his property tax cap through into law.

WHERE DO YOU GET THE BANG FOR THE BUCK: By voting for those who will promote the future health of this country. And the policies of the Democrats are definitely not the answer.
