Promising COVID-19 treatment available exclusively at Friendly Urgent Care!

[COMMUNICATED] The first question most people have when testing positive for COVID-19 is, What can I do to reduce symptoms and prevent myself from feeling worse? But for patients at high risk for contracting severe illness from the disease, this question is laced with a sense of urgency and fear.

Luckily, Friendly Urgent Care has answers! Friendly offers monoclonal antibody infusions, an EAU approved treatment, to patients that fulfill the following criteria: age 65+, age 55+ with a pre-existing condition, age 12+ with either a weakened immune system, a BMI of >35, diabetes (type 1 or 2), or chronic kidney issues. (Pregnant women should consult with their doctors to determine eligibility.)

Monoclonal antibodies help COVID-19 patients stave off nasty symptoms and effects of the virus. Monoclonal antibodies are designed to work similarly to one’s own antibodies to inactivate the virus early on. The benefit in receives monoclonal antibodies is that you do not have to wait for your body’s immune system to generate the antibodies which can take sometimes up to 2-3 weeks.. Until recently, the process of receiving monoclonal antibodies was inconvenient and challenging. Infusions were only offered in hospitals, and patients had to meet vast criteria and complete lengthy paperwork to qualify. But now, patients can receive monoclonal antibodies conveniently at Friendly Urgent Care.

The process is simple, yet highly effective. ER nurses administer monoclonal antibody infusions intravenously as patients relax in massage chairs for maximum comfort. After the 30 minute infusion, patients remain for 1 hour of observation, at which point they can return home. The results of this treatment are astounding. Most patients reported feeling symptom-free within 48 hours of the infusion!

Friendly Urgent Care is the only urgent care in New Jersey that offers this promising treatment. Esteemed organizations including COVID Plasma Initiative (CPI) and Bikur Cholim of Lakewood have referred hundreds of patients to Friendly Urgent Care to receive monoclonal antibodies.

Despite the unknown surrounding COVID-19 and the ever changing scientific revelations and treatment options coming to light, Friendly Urgent Care is committed to meeting the growing needs of the community. Last June, Friendly was the first center in all of New Jersey to offer rapid COVID-19 testing! Residents drove in from as far as an hour away to receive this desperately-needed service, and even now return to Friendly Urgent Care for the care they have grown to love.

Located in the heart of Lakewood, Friendly Urgent Care is the go-to for professionalism, compassion, and quality care. Friendly offers walk-in services and even has a pharmacy on-site to maximize convenience. The Friendly team is comprised of experienced medical assistants, registered nurses, x-ray technicians, and physician assistants, led by Dr. Daniel Lapidus, pediatric supervisor, and Dr. Hillel Peltz, medical director. When patients visit Friendly, they know they’ll receive empathetic and professional care. Friendly Urgent Care’s modern facility, complete with a refreshments bar, offers patients a warm and inviting experience.

When I was diagnosed with covid the only place to get this treatment was the hospital which took a 3-hour wait to get approved then another hour till the chair was available and then the treatment itself was basically a 6-hour treatment. My friend went to Friendly for the same treatment and was in and out within an hour. I’m very happy that this is available local without the hassle of a hospital

While monoclonal antibodies have worked very well for many people and saved many lives, please keep in mind that it is still under EUA – meaning not FDA approved and is an experimental treatment (as is the vaccine). It hasn’t worked as well or at all for people with more severe symptoms such as breathing issues. Ivermectin is an alternative FDA approved medication that when used with other medications like antibiotics, or steroids when needed is VERY effective and safe in most cases.

There is a reason why it is under EUA and not FDA approval. They do not know yet all long term effects of the treatment and are still evaluating its safety.

I had this infusion a few months ago at Kimball hospital. Besides being very symptomatic, fever, terrible pains, nausea etc., my oxygen level was starting to drop rapidly. With the help of H-shem this was a lifesaver. I am a senior citizen and I am sure with the symptoms I had I would have ended up in the hospital.

To “safe”
Yes, they are still evaluating the long term effects of monoclonal antibody treatment. In the meantime, they know perfectly well both the short and the long term effects of dying from Covid.
As for Ivermectin, its efficacy is far below monoclonal antibody infusion, and it definitely doesn’t reverse the disease within hours.
