The Toms River Police Department has identified and charged a New York man with attempted murder, aggravated assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest. These charges stem from an incident on December 8, 2015 in which the suspect dragged the police officer with a vehicle as he was fleeing the scene of an investigation. The officer has been released from the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Giomar Diaz, 33, whose last listed address was in the Bronx New York, is being held on $500,000 bail. Diaz appears to be in the United States illegally and currently is being held on an additional no bail detainer from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division; I.C.E.
Diaz is believed to have previously been detained on criminal charges in the United States and was deported to the Dominican Republic. Initial reports are that these charges were as a result of weapons and drug charges. In addition, there is an active warrant for Diaz originating in New York City.
Charges have also been filed against Alvin A. Hernandez Almanzar, 28, of Marlton Avenue in Camden New Jersey. He has been charged with hindering the apprehension of Diaz, revoked driving, and having an expired driver’s license. These charges arise as a result of him picking Diaz up after the vehicle used to assault Officer Brennan was abandoned. Bail has not yet been set for Hernandez -Almanzar.
Diaz was initially detained by Officer Daniel Brennan as well as Motor Vehicle Commission Investigators as a suspect in a document fraud. Diaz was attempting to use a false identity and documents at the MVC in an attempt to gain additional government documents not in his real name. The female seen with Diaz at the MVC is still wanted for questioning and has not yet been identified.
“We want to thank the MVC Staff, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and local citizens who provided information that led to the capture of these two men,” the Toms River Police Department said today. “We also would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the diligent efforts of our communications and dispatch team who coordinated the flood of incoming information.”
Anyone with additional information should contact Detective Randy Petrick at 732-349-0150 extension 1235.
[TLS]

I reported an illegal who was previously deported for assault and nothing has been done.
Get over it people
The Donald is looking smarter and smarter……
I left a comment yesterday saying that this was an illegal alien before it was reported on TLS that’s why the Donald is right and all those that put him down what will they say now?
Get over what?? That’s a stupid comment.
But Obama says the borders are secure, there is no influx of illegals coming in.
If he can do it so can ISIS, and they hate us!
Not all illegals are bad people. I myself am illegal and in transit for my work permit and think it is wrong how people fault us. There are americans that i know that happen to be horrible people and are corrupt to the system. But no one points fingers at them and discriminate them in any way.
“I myself am illegal”. Sad
What’s “sad” is the fact that all the good, non law breaking, (besides being illegal obviously) hard working illegal immigrants that everyone of you puts down clean your homes your work places and do all the dirty jobs and get take the low pay for al these types of jobs that no US American born wants to do.
Maybe your right, and no offence to you I am sure your very hard working, but if all these jobs that natural born citizens presumably don’t want are taken by those who do not pay taxes then what choice do we have but to be on unemployment or welfare. The only good thing is that we have paid into these govn’t run services. Illegals are utilizing healthcare, education, and some are demanding more freedoms without paying into the programs so who is actually getting screwed here.
Hey You illegal aliens that left comment here. don’t come to our country illegally lecture us on who we discriminate against we will discriminate against whoever we if you don’t like it you can leave. Don’t come here and steal our benefits and programs that we worked very hard to pay into.
