President Obama Wins Re-Election

JUST IN: [UPDATED] President Obama has won the elections with a total of 274 Electoral Votes. Mitt Romney got 203 Electoral Votes. With the current count, Obama has won despite losing the Popular Vote.

Romney won the Popular Vote by approximately one million votes – with about 40,000,000 votes.

UPDATE 12: 10 AM: Romney has not yet phoned the President.

Romney leads the President by only a few hundred thousand Popular Votes – and the President’s Electoral Votes now stand at about 290 vs Romney’s 203.

It is believed that no President with such a high unemployment rate ever won a re-election since the Great Depression.

It is also the second time in history in the United States that three consecutive Presidents have won re-election. The last time this occurred, was with the 3rd, 4th and 5th Presidents – Jefferson, Madison and Monroe – approximately 200 years ago.

UPDATE 12:30 AM. The difference in Popular Votes now stands at a few hundred between Obama and Romney.

  1. This article is wrong. There were several presidents who won the election without winning the popular vote George W. Bush was one of them in 2000. All the votes aren’t even in yet for you to say that he lost the popular vote. Of course you can’t just say congratulations. So I will so it for you. Congratulations President Obama

  2. #11- you are correct. #14- Are you kidding? That selfish opinion, if you are serious, is what is ruining our country. The “Give me, give me” attitude eats this country and its resources alive. It is called “Socialism.” The USA is supposed to be a democratic country! Work hard! Try your best! Help others. Not YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO THE MONEY YOU WORKED FOR: GIVE IT TO ME.”
That said, I have this odd feeling that #14 agrees with me and was being sarcastic.

  3. Oh no im dead serious. Do you have any idea how many families in Lkaewood rely on programs for bare basic necessities? Take your head out of the sand and stop listening to Treifa talk show brain washers!

  4. Just wait and see what the pres. Will do over the next four years now that he doesnt have to worry about being re-elected anymore… Scary stuff..

  5. Today is a sad day for Americans. It is a sad day for Israel and a sad day for Jews. But, we know G-D runs the world so this is what’s meant to be.

  6. I voted for Romney, but I have been disgusted by the right wing radio nuts for a long time now. They are the big losers here. All their grand predictions were wrong. They are full of bluster and arrogance. I am equally disgusted by the left wing media nuts. The best thing is to tune out all the arrogance.

  7. Seeing that is was so close, I really believe the base in the Republican party is to blame. If the primaries would not push the nominee so far to the right, maybee we’d pick up just a few more ind voters in eeach of the swing states and that would make the diff in this election. I BLAME THE FAR RIGHT for this loss. What a shame.

  8. Its sad to see the lakewood. People really want Obama for the programs… We get hooked on the programs more and more and not even looking for a job… Its just not worth it. When will this end??

  9. Obama won!!!!!!! yes I knew people couldn’t be so dumb to vote for romney. By the way I didn’t want Obama for free stuff or programs I wanted him because he cares about people.

  10. If it’s a sad day for you to bad . HASHEM SAY’S OBAMA WON ! 27 Are you being RACIST ! ? BECAUSE IT SURE LOOKS THAT WAY BY YOUR COMMENT. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF !

  11. Many of these posts are correct; Obama is indeed funding many of the bnei torah in our city. This funding is also ruining the country’s future. This has nothing to do with talk show hosts views etc., its what is actually happening, all you have to do is look at the numbers and the economy. Further, the U.S. commitment to Israel is at stake. Bottom line is, yes this President is good for our town (and others in the tri states area) today when we go to the doctor and shop, but Israel is at risk as well as our children who we want to be able to get assistance in the future.

  12. This is a very sad day for this country. The result of this election is indicative of the damage that this leader has caused our country over the last four years. He broke Americans hearts, spirits, and hopes. The will to sacrifice, take chances, and be successfull, and self sufficient has been robbed from us by this destructive individual, through all of the entitlement programs he instituted, and expanded. He did not win this election by offering hope and dreams, but rather by offering the status quo. Americans have become complacent with the security of entitlement programs, and have traded it with the great opportunities a free market offers. This is the saddest part of the election results. This is the danger of entitlements and the mentality that comes along with it. I don’t think there is any turning the clock back. And so America goes down the tubes, like all other nations, and empires of the past.

  13. To #43 “I didn’t want Obama for free stuff or programs I wanted him because he cares about people”. He caeres about people!!!!!!!!! What on earth are you talking about. Look how he is towards israel!

  14. A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with theresultthata democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years.” (Alexis de Tocqueville)

  15. to #43 he cares about HIS people not you. The republican party is doomed due to demographics we all knew its coming but didnt think it would happen so early, RIP Sane America, crazy America won.

  16. “Obama Wins!!! We get more free stuff … GO OBAMA!!!”
WHAT? just what is wrong with the new mentallity .does anyone remember the famous quote Kennedy (A DEMOCTRAT !)made in a speech he gave “ask not what your country can do for you ,ask what you can do for your country”
Unfortunately to many Americans have there hand out looking for a free ride ,that conly last so long until the other guys money runs out !!

  17. the real sad thing is that neither party has real solutions they are all playing partisan politics, they don’t have a solution for the economy they don’t have a solution to provide basic affordable medical coverage, they don’t have a solution for the growing college tuition crisis. it’s a complete mess. I am done with talk radio they are full of partisans that don’t care about Washington being gridlocked.

  18. Maybe its time we move out of the country!! Lets go to Canada. Nope, they have universal health care. Lets go to Israel. That also won’t work, they also have universal health care. Well, we’re should we go??? Every civilized first world country has universal health care and higher tax rates than us!!!

How about all the loony conservatives all move to Somalia. Limited government interference, everyone can carry as many guns as they want, and there’s no welfare system!! Just get out of the US and leave the rest of us alone.

  19. kol ma d’uvid rachmono ltav ovid. evereythings for our good. That it is why we are always to be bsimcha.
At the same time when there seems chas vsholom to be a time of tragedy- ( it only seems to be bad- as there is no such thing as a bad thing from hashem – ” ki meito lo tetze horo”) it is there for us to do teshuva and to pray etc. and to get closer to him.

All of that has to be bsimcha.
Theres never room for sadness in yidishkeit.
The yetzer Hora tries to have us confuse a seemingly tough situation with being a time of despair or sadness chas vsholom.

  20. I met a few people that they didn’t let vote because the said they voted through the mail which wasn’t true. Is this 3rd world country that they are voting for you?I suggest obama team voted by mail for millions of people latinos and others that never realized they voted already. Please submit if you had a problem voting.

  21. Quote “For those of you upset at the outcome of the election, i have one suggestion for you- move. Get out of our country.”
that is the dumbest statement any American can make ,in this country you have a right to disagee with how things are done ,that includes politicians. If you want a dictatorship why dont you move !!!

  22. I’m not some doom and gloom person but yes I do think the Obama victory is the final nail in the American coffin.I don’t think it will happen overnight but once society is dependent on the government handouts it is lost.

I will leave you with two thoughts about the programs (1)Over the past twenty years I’ve seen the the value for Emes and fear of Gezel take a nosedive by some in our community thanks to the programs.

(2)I used to work for an inner city tax prep firm. The single mothers there would tell me point blank and without embarrassment that they had children only for the sake of government support. How good do you think it will be for your children as America has more and more children born for that reason?

  23. Somebody recenly told me over from one of the gedolim that throughout history, whenever it was time for the Yidden to leave any country, Hashem would first make “noise”. It would take time until the blatant anti-semitism would arrive, but Yidden had a few years to see the writing on the wall and leave. Those who weren’t assimilated had a chance to leave, those who were assimilated had no chance. And then a few years later……… the blatant anti-semitism would come out.

My friends: I don’t have the slightest clue what Obama’s feelings are for Jews. I don’t think anybody really knows. We know he’s decided to take a very strong stand against Israel, then toned it down for the elections, and just today its coming out that he promised the Palestinians a state after the elections. Iran…. forget about it.

That said, Obama may still be a great oheiv yisroel. We just don’t know.

But the winds in America that blew Obama into office do not bode well for our long term safety in the medinah shel chesed. The fact that those same winds are here, even with all the economic devastation in our country, should show us that these winds are here to stay.

I don’t know what this means for our long term safety. But if Hashem gives us a few years to prepare, this may be a wake up call.

    Just saying.

    1933 to 1938 (kristallnacht) was 5 years.

  24. # 41. Did you know there is no middle east ? The middle east was created. Those lands belong to Africa. In 1928 the map was changed and the middle east was created. Check history , don’t be fooled by the world and it’s lies.
