Portions of Seventh Street in Lakewood is scheduled to be closed and detoured beginning Monday for railroad crossing repairs in Lakewood, Ocean County.
This work, which will take place between Marys Lane and Park Avenue, was originally scheduled to begin July 15, but was postponed in response to requests from Committeemen Menashe Miller, Albert Akerman and Meir Lichtenstein, as well as Lakewood Police Detective Alex Guzman.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, August 12, until 7 a.m., Monday, August 19, 7th Street will be closed in both directions from Marys Lane to Park Avenue to remove and reconstruct the existing railroad crossing and approaches. Motorists are advised to follow the signed detours.
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing, the existing crossing will be replaced with new concrete crossings and asphalt approaches. This federally funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 50 crossings each year, statewide.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
