The polls for voting in Election 2025 open tomorrow, Saturday, October 25th.
On the ballot are races for Governor/Lieutenant Governor, State Assembly, Ocean County Sheriff, Ocean County Clerk, Ocean County Commissioner, Lakewood Township Committee, Lakewood Fire Commissioner and Lakewood Board of Education.
Early Voting:
The “Early Voting” period takes place from Saturday, October 25th through Sunday, November 2nd. Voting hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am through 8:00 pm; and Sunday, 10:00 am through 6:00 pm. It is important to note that during the “Early Voting” period, you cannot vote at your regular polling location. Instead, Lakewood voters can vote at any of the following locations in Ocean County (even if they do not reside in that municipality):
Lakewood Municipal Building – 231 3rd Street
Berkeley Library – 30 Station Road
Brick Library – 301 Chambers Bridge Road
Jackson Library – 2 Jackson Drive
Lacey/Christopher A Smith Community Center – 15 East Lacey Road
Lavallette Library – 112 Jersey City Avenue
Little Egg Harbor Library – 290 Mathistown Road
Manchester Library – 21 South Colonial Drive
Stafford/OC Southern Resource Center – 179 South Main Street
Toms River Library – 101 Washington Street
Monday, November 3rd: There will be no in-person voting.
Tuesday, November 4th: On Election Day, voters can vote at their local designated Election District polling location only. Polls will be open from 6:00 am through 8:00 pm. For many Lakewood voters, the 2025 polling location has changed, and is not where they have voted in previous elections. Voters are advised to refer to the paper sample ballot they’ve received in the mail for updated voting information.
Lakewood Township Clerk Lauren Kirkman relates that, based on trends in previous election years, the longest lines at the polls can be found in the final days of the Early Voting period, as well as during the final hours of Election Day. “If you want to avoid the wait, the best advice is simple: Vote as early as you can!” says Kirkman.
