Polling Stations Reporting Light Voter Turnout

As of about 3:45 PM, polling stations are reporting a light voter turnout, according to voters in different districts. School Elections generally only draw several thousand voters, but attracts larger masses when the School Board elections are coordinated with the General Elections in November.

Lakewood is the only district in the County which chose to keep the school elections in April.

This year’s General Elections in November are expected to draw a larger crowd than usual due to it coinciding with the Presidential Elections.

Polling stations are open today until 9PM. TLS.

People, please take the couple of minutes it takes to vote.
Does it matter to you if your property tax increased by say $100 a month ?
If you don’t take action now and rely on others then don’t whine when your tax bills go up.

Lakewood NEEDS to vote early because so much of the budget process happens before the summer vacation as well as other decisions affecting upcoming school year !!!

Decions on the allocation of funds to help our children are accomplished now to the end of the spring semester. Don’t you want to have a say on this process now by electing the people you trust to make the right decisions that best serve our childrens’ needs? WHy delay?

Stop kvetching about taxes. It is like an esrog. I asked daas Torah and was told to vote for for certain people even if my taxes increase. My shver says that he is happy to pay the extra if that is what daas Torah says. They know what bnei Torah need and if they decide that my shver should pay more, than he is happy. I think it will be a zechus for my daughter’s shidduchim.

#1- when budgets are tight $100 a month is substantial

Also, with all the fliers and robocalls causing confusion, people are probably just going to stay home

I no longer vote in BOE elections as it really is a waste of my time . When i see someone running that has children in the public school system I might reconsider

It’s very confusing. I don’t know any one on either ‘side’, so I don’t have some one I ‘trust’. Each side has good and valid points and each will defend against the other’s criticism. All these robo calls and letters are too little too late. This should have been pubicly debated/disscussed by way of ads, interviews, and/or articles much earlier on. Seriously, what good does it do for any one to recieve multiple robo calls all in one day/night?

I don’t mean any ill will and I am certainly not siding or going against any body. But, how are we supposed to make an informed decision when all we’re hearing is, ‘I’m better… They’re no good… It’s corruption…’ etc. etc.

I don’t know…

$30,000 for an election with a turnout of 1000 votes. That’s the BOE at work for you.

THAT $30,000 could have been put to a better use, like maybe giving the teachers their retroactive pay and going towards a raise. Working for two years without a contract is a shame. Its like saying you are nobody.
