Poll: Two-Thirds Of New Jersey Residents Want Restrictions To Remain In Place

The restrictions imposed via Executive Order by Governor Phil Murphy to halt the spread of Covid-19 in New Jersey has resulted in thousands of businesses being on the brink of insolvency. Still, and even with Covid-19 cases remaining steady in the state, a large majority of New Jerseyans are OK with those restrictions remaining in place, according to a new poll conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The poll of 809 residents found that two-thirds are prepared to wait as long as necessary to fully reopen the state, rather than rushing to reopening in the absence of a vaccine or proven therapeutics, 29% want to return to normal despite the risks, and 53% of those wishing to return to normal being Republicans.

Additionally, the poll found that 77% of residents believe wearing a face mask in public should be mandatory, while 20% think that masks should be one’s personal choice. Even among Republicans, 60% support mandatory mask-wearing when in public.

With regards to feeling confident in the safety and effectiveness of a vaccine when one becomes available, just 19% are very confident, and 47% are somewhat confident. Another 28% are not confident at all that it will be safe and effective. 66% say they will likely or definitely get vaccinated, while another 30% say they likely or definitely won’t get vaccinated against Covid-19.

    • @Jersey Strong Great point!
      Lol!

They should have asked one person from NJ and said the 100 percent result of all New Jerseyians!

Now you can see why polls are skewed!

  1. If 2/3 of the residents of our state are so brain washed and out of touch with economic reality, what can we expect from the government officials they elected to represent them. If these “shot down till it’s over” policies continue – we are headed for huge economic disaster.
Shot downs won’t eradicate covid-19 pandemic, they just prolong it.

  2. this poll was made to liberal college students that have no brain of their own, they are polite baboons! and go along with what ever their leftist professors say!
