  1. If Tent City closes without a solution then these people will all be roaming around town, sleeping wherever, begigng for food and money and commiting crimes to survive

  2. No let them stay. I still say the people in Lakewood complaining just want the land to build more houses, condos and townhouses. At least with them there ,their is still trees and woods .

  3. apparenlty the rev doesn’t have a problem throwing people out onto the streets when they don”t follow his rules, so they can roam the streets. he only has a problem when the Twp. does it.

  4. heres something to think about ..theres alot of nice new home going up in lakewood ..why dont you see if any of them need a job so they can get out of the woods iv done it and got 3 of them out of there and there very good tradesmen..but it prob just easyer to use undocumented workers so they can beat them for the money they work for all week like they do alot! iv seen it first hand ..remember this is all are land not just what(god) gave you ..hes done the same over here too.. welcome to america

  5. If you want specifics: There is a tent city behind the Crystal palace diner and behind the bus station in Toms River There is a tent city behind the Athena diner in Howell. Both the Toms River and Howell police departments try to help thiese people by briging them food and clothing In addition to helping their own homeless, recently the Toms River PBA made $200 donation to the Lakewood Tent City and the Howell police department donated new gloves, hand warmers and food to the Lakewood Tent City.

  6. there is no homeless shelter in ocean county! where would you have them go? and to the people who swear they have been given options and turned them down, please state where you heard this alleged information and what options were offered

  7. Are we not charged to help our neighbor? Why throw them out of the only housing they have. There are plenty of condos going up in town, close Tent City and put them up there. It’s what G-d is asking of you.

  8. All these comments must be coming from the inmates of tent city. I drive by all the time and the area always smells like their burning something chickens are running around its dirty if someone would be doing this in ur backyard I want to c how u would like it. I’m not sayin these people don’t need a place to live but do it like the rest of the world we’re all struggling times are ruff but we aren’t moving into tents.

  9. this subject should be brought before the mayor & residents to try to work out some kind of plan. obviously, according to the poll, the majority of people want this “tent city” gone…..so what do we do?

  10. To # 16. The only thing you can do now is wait. The township filed suit against Tent City last year and the judge turn it over to a mediator to you want and cry and complain everyday but the truth is one man will make the final decisions regarding Tent City. That man is the Ocean County Judge assigned to the case.

  11. It costs a lot less and is more efficient to run than putting them in a county shelter where you will have to pay with your tax dollars, but it will help the unemployment problem by making new government jobs for the running the shelter.
